Mason used to be married to Zoe for many years. Naturally, he could sense that he still had a place in Zoe’s heart. However, she hated him more than she loved him. There was also the fact that she wouldn’t admit that she still had feelings for him.

thrust if she hadn’t loved him.

Zoe laid next to Yanni by the time they were done. She stayed awake for a long time, lost in thought.
She, too, knew that something shifted in their relationship. It was something she didn’t want to admit. If Mason weren’t going to bring it up, she wouldn’t say anything on the matter either. She’d still leave Brookesville when the time was right.
Zoe had long grown out of her youth. They had parted ways with each another gut-wrenchingly one too many times. It wasn’t something a great sex or two could fix.

All of a sudden, he grabbed her hands in the darkness, He asked her in his husky voice, “What’s on your mind?”
Shaking her head slightly, she said, “It’s nothing! It’s getting late. Goodnight.”
She wanted to withdraw her hands, but he wouldn’t let her go. Instead, he leaned in closer and pulled both her and Yanni into his arms. It felt warm and the way he hugged them was so affectionate. It was what Zoe had wanted in the past.
Now that she had it, she felt so sorry for herself that she wanted to
cry.
Mason wanted to tell her to give him another chance. In fact, he had told her about it countless times.
However, he didn’t bring it up this time. Instead, he said, “Don’t worry! I’ll let you go if that’s what you wish! I just want you to know about this, Zoe. I’ll never marry another lady for the rest of my life. Yanni and our next baby will be my only children. I won’t father a third child.
“If you want to return to Silvercrest, then I’ll let you go. In fact, I’ll visit you and Yanni there. I might just uproot my life and settle down there with our next baby.” He was so tender and thoughtful, but she didn’t respond to him.
Her face was buried in his chest. Then, he felt a moist sensation seeping into his pajamas at the chest area.

She bit back her voice, swallowing her cries. She couldn’t find any words to describe her feelings now.
She hated him for the way he mistreated her in the past.
He kept holding her in his embrace. It was hard to describe how he felt about Zoe. They got married when they were young. On top of that, she was barely older than twenty years old when they had sex for the first time. She hadn’t even fully matured by then.
After all these years, he was still the only man she had sex with.
That was why, even if she was already a mature, twenty-nine year old lady, he still viewed her the same way he did in the past. She was still the young lady who was four years younger than him.

Morning came and Mason was awake, but Zoe and Yanni were still sound asleep.
There were dark circles under Zoe’s eyes.
Instead of waking her up, he merely pecked her cheeks. Then, he carried Yanni in his arms and stared at her wordlessly. He didn’t know how it felt to be a father in the past, but a warm and happy feeling rose in his chest when he laid his eyes on his daughter.
Their next baby was probably going to be a boy!
That would be great. The boy could inherit his company when he was all grown up. Yanni, on the other hand, just had to live a simple, happy life in the future.
He felt another feeling swelling up in his chest. It was his love for his baby girl. He showered her with kisses before slipping out of the bed quietly to freshen up for work.
Half an hour later, he was already sitting in the car, ready to go to his company. Luke saw that his master was in a good mood. So, he cracked a joke and Mason smiled faintly in response.
The black limousine pulled out of Kirk Manor, catching the sunlight and glinting brilliantly. Luke had barely driven the car out of the black ornate gate when he stepped on the brake suddenly.
