In the end, she broke the silence and asked him briefly, “Is it true?” 

“Absolutely! We’re very happy together!” His voice sounded firm and resolute. “You left for three years, Zoe! I have urges too!”

Zoe hung up on him in response. 

To her credit, she didn’t lose her composure in front of Yanni. Instead, she suppressed her feelings and fell into deep thought again. 

How big of a fool was she? Why did she keep having feelings for Mason over and over again? 

It wasn’t going to happen again. Not anymore! 

With that said, she didn’t regret having made this call. 

Yanni was just a young girl. So, she couldn’t possibly know about any of this. However, Mia could tell something was wrong. Reaching out she held Zoe’s hands in hers, trying to offer her comfort. 

Forcing a smile, Zoe said, “I’m fine, Mia. This is the plan, after all!” With that, she ordered Luke to turn the car around and drive them to her apartment instead. 

Luke had worked for Mason for a long time now. So, he didn’t even think about it when he said, “Mr. Mason instructed me to tell you something, Ms. Zoe. You can continue to live in Kirk Manor. He’ll move back to his previous manor instead.” 

Zoe was stunned. 

A second later, she smiled bitterly. Even Luke knew how it would end

After all, Mason was with Gabriela now. It’d be massively 

disrespectful if she continued to leave things ambiguous with him. She wouldn’t be able to respect herself too. 

With all that said, how was she supposed to take this gracefully? 

It was like what Mia said. Humans are emotional beings. She had been with Mason and slept with him for a long time. Moving on from him was easier said than done, but she had to do it nonetheless, no matter how long it might take. 

Zoe didn’t shed a tear. This time, she didn’t suffer any physical injuries. She might’ve been hurt emotionally, but she believed that time would take care of everything… 

Mason was lying quietly on the bed in the VIP ward of the Intensiv Care Unit. He had grown much thinner now. His phone was lying nex to his pillow. He had just lied to Zoe about him being together with Gabriela. 

Zoe was going to cry in the night when she was all alone. He just knew it. 

She might’ve been tough, but she was still a lady. He knew she harbored some hope for their relationship. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have sent him all the texts the way she did. On top of that, she even gave him a call to confirm his claim, regardless of her pride. 

The fact was, he could’ve easily told her the truth and she would’ve made the decision to stay with him 

However, where would they go from there? Was she supposed to stay with him for the rest of her life, even with his disability? 

He couldn’t bear to let her live her life like that! 

He’d much rather have her hate him. It was better to make her think that he was being disloyal again because he couldn’t tolerate not having someone to sate his lust. This was how it should’ve been. Let her think that he had been sleeping with Gabriela for the past three
