Chapter 425

Lisa was behaving humbly because she was worried Zoe wouldn’t agree to her request. She even asked the waiter over and said, “Her coffee’s gone cold. Make her a new one, please. She loves Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee.”

Smiling, the waiter said, “Right away!”

Turning her gaze to Zoe, she started begging, “All I need is a minute.”

Zoe took her seat again quietly.

Lisa let out a sigh of relief. Then, the waiter brought over a new cup of

coffee for Zoe.

She could tell that Lisa was trying to gain her favor, but she wasn’t exactly friendly to her because she couldn’t let go of the torture Lisa’ had subjected her to.

Lisa was a little down, but she knew she had done the wrong thing back then. She tried to regain her composure and talk to Zoe. She didn’t intend to tell her about Mason’s condition. All she wanted ask of Zoe was for her to stay by Mason’s side. The only thing wanted to see was for them to reconcile with each other.

Wiping her tears away, she said, “You guys had two babies and b of them bear the Lockwood family name! I believe you still have feelings for Mason. I’m not asking you to forgive me. Instead, I’m jus asking you to return to him. He really needs you now.”

Zoe couldn’t find it in herself to forgive Lisa. It didn’t matter if she looked downcast and pitiful now. After all, she brought this upon

herself.

Staring at the coffee quietly, she said lightly, “Here’s something you

need to know, Lisa. My relationship with Mason doesn’t concern you in any way, shape, or form.”

She didn’t like this. After all, nobody likes to live their lives with hatred in their hearts. Zoe was no exception too.

Ignoring the new cup of coffee, she rose and left. At the next

moment, she heard Lisa calling out to her from the back, “I used to love you very much, Zoe! Do you remember the party you attended at Lockwood Manor when you were eighteen years old? You used to call me in the most affectionate way back then. We were so close…”

Stopping in her tracks, Zoe smiled and said without turning back, You loved me because you thought I was good enough for Mason back then! As soon as I came down with postpartum depression, you saw me as nothing more than a burden. A hindrance that you’d just as soon get rid of…

“I don’t think I can do it anymore…

“I’m sorry, but I can’t address you in the same, affectionate way I did

before!”

With that, she left the coffee shop without so much as throwing Lisa

a glance.

At the next moment, the sound of Lisa’s gut-wrenching cries

reverberated in the coffee shop.

Zoe wrapped everything she needed to do in Brookesville and took a flight back to Silvercrest.

She didn’t contact Mason in any way ever since she went back to her home. Mia would dial the phone for Yanni whenever the little girl wanted to talk to her father.

In essence, she was no longer a part of Mason’s life.

He thought at first. He was very glad that Zoe started her

new life without him. In any case, she would move back to

Brookesville. It might break his heart, but he could meet up with her from time to time at least.

However, he began to grow discontent with it as time passed by.

As Zoe said, she was supposed to move back to Brookesville with their kids. That was supposed to happen in May, but it was already July and she was nowhere to be seen.

He was starting to become agitated over it. In fact, he started having insomnia. In the dead of night, he’d always have filthy thoughts about Zoe and work them out in the form of mucky discharges.

However, never once did he ask her about the move. All he did was bear the hollow loneliness by himself every day.

Then, August came. Autumn was rolling in.

Mason needed to meet up with an important client. So, he took Ava with him to the airport to welcome him. Given his busted legs, he had no choice but to wait in the car while Ava went away to wait for him.

It was rather mundane, waiting for some

someone at the airport. So, he took out his phone to kill some time. Browsing through his gallery checked the pictures of Zoe and the kids.

He was lost in the moment when Luke suddenly uttered, “It’s Ms. Z

Mr. Mason!”

“She’s back and the kids are with her.”
