I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 430

Chapter 430

Layla and the other servants were particularly excited today.

They poured their heart and soul into preparing lunch. Considering Yanni’s growth, they made creamy mushroom chicken with high-end ingredients and grilled it over the fire. The moment they served it on the dining table, the aroma was so captivating that it filled the entire dining hall.

Scarlett also joined them for lunch. She took the seat Zoe usually sat in, probably because she needed to take care of Mason. However, Zoe let it slide. After all, she and Mason were divorced!

Scarlett was very attentive and thoughtful. She scooped the food and put it on his plate. It seemed as if they got along fine and had their own routines already set. Clearly, the doctor had stayed in the manor for quite some time.

That irked Zoe somewhat.

The worst thing Scarlett did was when Yanni wanted to eat the thigh. The little girl was about to stab it with a fork, but she was faster and took the juicy thigh away before putting it on Mason’s plate.

Yanni stared at her, shocked.

There were only two thighs on a chicken. Scarlett had had one earlier. Now that she gave the other one to Mason. There was none left for the little girl!

Needless to say, Mason could tell that his daughter wanted to eat it. So, he gave it to her instead, fully expecting her to lighten up. He hadn’t expected her to pout at him.

“Scarlett used her own fork to stab the thigh. That’s not sanitary.”

Mason was stunned at that.

Scarlett came from an ordinary family. So, she was used to using her own cutlery to serve food, instead of a separate set of cutlery. She simply assumed that she didn’t need to observe these rules because Mason permitted her to join their lunch.

She blushed in response.

In the end, Zoe spoke up for her. Patting Yanni’s head, she said softly, “You’re being rude to Scarlett, sweetle.” Then, she looked at the doctor. “Please forgive my little girl, Scarlett.”

Scarlett forced a smile. “It’s fine! I’m not about to get mad at a child.”

Then, Zoe used a separate set of cutlery to give Mason back his thigh. After that, she served her daughter the yummy drumsticks.

He saw what she did and mulled it over.

They used to be married for years. Needless to say, they understand each other quite well. Zoe might’ve seemed sophisticated and cheerful throughout the whole process, but he knew that she wasn’t happy about it.

His eyes grew darker.

Mason was supposed to rest after unch, but he wanted to hang with his kids. So, Zoe sent both Yanni and Jamie upstairs to keep

company.

She didn’t enter her former bedroom. Instead, she killed her time the guest room on the second floor. She was taking a sip of coffee out of a ceramic cup. It was her favorite cup.

Layla said softly, “Everything stayed the same even after you left, Ms. Zoe. Mr. Mason didn’t change any of the architecture and furnishings.

top

for the past few years.”

Putting down the cup, Zoe smiled faintly,

“What about the doctor?”

Holding the tray, Layla hesitated a little before saying in a hushed voice, “It goes without saying that Scarlett had her own agenda, but I swear to you that Mr. Mason has no intention of taking things further

with her.”

Truth was, she, too, knew that Mason wasn’t sleeping with Scarlett. However, she had to pretend to be unaffected when her beloved ex- husband lived with another lady. It wasn’t as easy as it seemed for her to pull it off, to say the least!

Her smile grew thinner.

Layla noticed it and decided she’d better leave her alone.

Mason was hanging out with both of his children in the master bedroom. He couldn’t move around, but it was a good thing that Yanni was very good at looking after her little brother. Moreover, Jamie wasn’t the kind of kid who ran wildly about. Instead, he’d follow his bigger sister around and play with her.

Just the heartwarming sight of them playing together was enou make him feel happy and content.

With that said, the kids needed to take their naps. Both of them s dozed off on the couch. It was a good thing that the couch was w enough. Otherwise, he’d have to worry about them falling off.
