I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 431

Chapter 431

Mason kept Zoe company for half an hour before he called Deborah up to the room.

Knocking on the door, she came in and saw that Yanni was sleeping with Jamie. Tip-toeing across the room, she asked softly, “Are they sleeping?”

He stared at them with nothing but love and tenderness in his eyes. Moments later, he said lightly, “Look after them.”

Deborah responded immediately, “Go ahead and do what you need to do, Mr. Mason. Leave the kids to me.”

Mason’s face turned red. Wheeling himself, he exited the bedroom, but Zoe was nowhere to be seen. He searched for her for a good while before finding her in the guest room.

She was leaning on the window, talking on the phone.

It was afternoon and the sunlight shone into the room through the window, casting its brilliant rays on Zoe. Her skin was glowing a she looked at ease while she talked.

It reminded Mason that she was as relaxed and happy as she when she first parted ways with him years ago.

Back then, she had talked to Liam.

Now, however, it had to be David.

Contrary to his suspicions, Zoe was actually talking to Cecil. She was asking about Mason’s condition. The conversation was coming to an end and she saw him out of the corner of her eye. He looked like he was filled with all sorts of emotions while looking at her.

Flashing him a faint smile, she wrapped up the conversation and hung up. Waving her phone at him, she said, “That was David.”

Disappointment flashed across his face at once.

Wheeling himself closer, he glanced at the cup on the table. It was the cup she had used and half of the coffee in it had been drunk, but she was no longer his wife.

Picking up the cup, he ran his hands across it gently and murmured, You didn’t have to make a show to me of how lovey-dovey you are

with him.”

“Was that what I did?”

Leaning back on the window, the sunlight shone through her blouse and highlighted her slender figure. Her curves were so tantalizing.

However, she pretended that she wasn’t aware of how she was seducing him and said, “What about you and Scarlett? You two live together and spend every single day enjoying each other’s company. Now, that’s what I’d call lovey-dovey!”

Fixing his gaze on her, he asked, “Are you jealous?”

Lowering her gaze, she smiled faintly. Then, she raised her eyes an said casually, “I’ll be taking the kids back with me as soon as they wake up. I’ll wait for them downstairs.”

He responded hastily, “You can wait for them in the bedroom! You must be tired from the flight.” The affection in his tone was unmistakable. It was the kind of affection that a man only showed to his wife. Needless to say, Zoe could hear it in his voice, but she couldn’t accept it now.

Mason would just shy away from her if she took a step closer to him.

She turned down his offer and said, “We can’t sever ties completely

because of our klas,

As your divorced wife, it isn’t appropriate for me to enter it.

“Moreover, aren’t we supposed to start new lives? With that in mind, we shouldn’t do anything that’ll lead people to think that there are still feelings between us.”

With that, she headed downstairs.

There was no longing nor hesitation when she brushed past him. It

was as if she had completely moved on from him and put their relationship behind her in the past four months.

He could tell that she had severed ties with him for good.

Was she doing it because of David?

At the next moment, Zoe left the guest room.

The sunlight continued to light up the entire room, but it could do nothing to warm him up. Sitting in his wheelchair quietly, he picked up his cup of coffee, which had gone cold, and took his time to finish it. His left hand and his eyebrows couldn’t help but tremble

uncontrollably.

He had been sitting so close to her earlier, but there was nothing h

could do to ask her to stay.

Evening rolled on and Zoe took the kids with her.

Yanni was very reluctant to leave.

Jamie may have been very young and had only just met with his father, but he did give Mason a kiss before he left, which was one of the most affectionate gestures a toddler could do.

Buckling her kids into their seats, Zoe swung the car door and closed it decisively.
