Chapter 451
Liam also kept dreaming about Zoe.
As time went by, he came to realize that he wasn’t taking pity on her. Instead, he missed her. He reminisced about the moments when she stood in front of him and told him how tragic her marriage was,
sounding heartbroken and looking all vulnerable. He missed it when she used to regard him with trusting eyes.
That was why he’d pay her a visit whenever he went on a work trip to
Silvercrest.
He even sent Gwynn to Silvercrest Art College so that he could have another good reason to visit Zoe. All they ever did was have a meal together or have a cup of coffee, but that was good enough for him!
Now, however, all of that was lost to him.
It didn’t matter how much he loved her, he was simply undeserving of her. After all, his love was despicable and tainted.
Zoe walked back into her manor.
Mia was playing with the kids. Hearing footsteps, she raised her e to look at Zoe, who was slipping out of her shoes at the door.
She said to her stepmother, “I’m going to take a flight back to Silvercrest! I’m not just doing it for Gwynn. I’m also doing it for Noah. We finally got a better life. I don’t want him to keep holding onto hatred.”
Mia couldn’t agree with her more.
At the end of the day, there was nothing he could do to bring back the
dead. Focusing on what he had now was the most important thing.
was buying the flight ticket when she said to Mia, “I’ll be back in two days, tops! Just look for Mason if you need help with anything. He’ll sort it out.”
She might’ve had a fallout with Mason, but he was still the person she
trusted the most.
Nodding, Mia said, “Don’t worry. I’ll know what to do.”
Raising her eyes, she looked at Mia and realized there were several
strands of white hair on her head. Guilt rose in her chest when she
held her hands and said softly, “You’ve still got a lot of good years. ahead of you, Mia. If you ever meet someone you love, you should…”
“I’m going to stop you right there!” Mia turned down her offer softly and said, “I’m babysitting your kids now. Noah’s going to have at least a couple of kids for me to babysit in the future as well.
“That makes a total of four to five rugrats! My hands are going to be so full by then. There was simply no need for me to add another old
man into the mix.”
Zoe chuckled in response.
Mia smiled too. “I mean it! Do you think it’s easy to find someone better than your dad? I don’t intend to settle for someone worse him.”
With that, the discussion ended.
Zoe flew to Silvercrest the next afternoon. Then, she headed straight to the Sanders Group’s headquarters.
Noah wasn’t around, so Kim had no choice but to welcome her and make her some fine tea. She kept dodging the topic and avoided telling Zoe the truth..
“Fine! It doesn’t seem like you’re going to talk.” Putting down her cup of tea, she smiled faintly. “Well, I’m going to stay here until he shows up, no matter how long it’s going to take!
e’ll have to come here and
deal with some urgent cases one of these days.”
Plain out of options, Kim made a call to Noah and asked for further instructions. Moments later, she hung up the phone, came over, and sighed. “Please follow me, Ms. Zoe.
Kim arranged for a company car to take both of them to the manor where Noah had confined poor Gwynn.
By the time she had arrived there, no one was in the manor.
In fact, Noah had just ruined both of Maddox’s hands and confirmed that his wife was pregnant. The manor was very big, but only a few servants could be seen from time to time.
Kim said softly, “Mr. Noah took Ms. Gwynn out on a stroll.”
Out on a stroll, she said…
Forcing a smile on her face, Zoe asked, “Do they love each other very much?” Obviously, she didn’t believe it. She wanted to check for evidence on the second floor.
Needless to say, Kim didn’t dare to stand in her way.
Not only was she Noah’s sister, but she was also the second-bigges shareholder in the Sanders group and had a hugely successful career She had a lot of connections in Silvercrest. Kim couldn’t afford to
cross her!
