Chapter 452
Zoe went upstairs by herself.
She had only gone to the eastern master bedroom on the second
floor. Opening the door, she crossed the private lounge and walked into the bedroom.
There were no wedding photos above the headboard.
The bedroom lacked any of a young lady’s usual belongings. There was only a small canvas on the couch. It was only half-done, but she could tell from the features that it was a portrait of Noah.
There were only some lady’s clothes in the fitting room.
What was weird was that there were even fewer men’s clothes in
there!
Touching the fine fabric of the lady’s clothes, she could already tell that Noah hadn’t been treating Gwynn well. Otherwise, why would there only be a few clothes when they’ve supposedly lived together for a year?
She didn’t stay there for too long. After she had looked around, went downstairs slowly. Kim was visibly unnerved when she cal
down.
She asked, “Am I right in saying that Noah doesn’t come here frequently?”
Kim didn’t lie this time. Nodding, she responded, “You’re right, Ms. Zoe. He’s only here for a day or two every week.”
Zoe decided she had asked enough. She knew that a brutal story was the only thing waiting for her if she pressed. So, she was about to leave, but several young bodyguards took some pails out of the
basement and there was red liquid all of them.
Stunned, she turned and looked at Kim, who felt a shiver down her
spine.
Zoe stayed in Silvercrest for a week. After that, she took a flight back to Brookesville’s international airport. Then, she saw Liam at the
entrance.
Both of them scanned each other through a pair of sunglasses. After she cleared customs, she invited him for a cup of coffee at the airport’s Starbucks.
They took a seat. Taking off her sunglasses, she asked coldly, “Are you tailing me?”
It had only been several days since they saw each other. Liam looked
much more miserable than before.
He ordered a cup of coffee for her and took a cigarette out while they were waiting for it. However, he didn’t light it up because it wasn’t appropriate for him to do so at a place like this.
Looking at her, his voice was stiff when he said, “I didn’t mean to you. All I want is to learn Gwynn’s whereabouts. I’ve sent some of men to Silvercrest, but Noah took care of all of them. I couldn’t get touch with her.”
At that moment, the barista served them their coffees.
Lowering her head, she stirred her cup, but she didn’t drink it.
Ever since she knew about the truth, she hadn’t thought there would come a day when she’d have coffee with him. After all, his misdeeds ultimately led to her dad’s death!
However, that was what she was doing now. She was having a cup of
coffee with him.
After a brief moment, she raised her eyes and looked at him.
There were tears in her eyes. Gwynn had gone through a lot of stuff that was eerily similar to her history. Naturally, she resonated with her and felt sorry for her.
That was why she stayed at Silvercrest for a week.
However, she didn’t get to see Noah because he took Gwynn out of
the country.
Her voice was hollow as she spoke to him. “Gwynn’s pregnant!”
Liam was shocked to the core at what she said.
His family tragedy happened when he was young. So, he had to mature and grow up fast to take care of his remaining family members. He had long honed himself to be calm at all times, but he
couldn’t keep his cool this time.
His cup of coffee slipped from his hand and fell, dousing his cigarette.
It was a mess on the table and a server came over to clean it up. His eyes turned red and he roared, “Get out of my sight!”
An awkward silence hung over the entire coffee shop.
Some of them recognized Liam and recorded his miserable looks before uploading them on the internet. Needless to say, they include Zoe in the upload as well.
In less than an hour, they were on the trending search on the internet.
“The best lawyer in the country, Liam, lost his cool and dissed his girlfriend at the airport.”
Liam didn’t know about all of that. Pressing his palms on the table, he leaned lover, looked at her, and asked softly, “I want to see her!
Please, Zoe. I beg you!”
