Zoe didn’t let him intimidate her.
Looking back at him, she said, “I can’t help you! They flew out of the country and I’ve no idea when they’ll be back. I don’t think they’ll stay in the same place when they come back.
“I’m sure you know this, but Noah spent two years garnering more powers and influence than I have in Silvercrest. There’s nothing I can
do if he intends to hide from me.”
“I know you’re telling me the truth. I’m just trying to leverage on your
conscience,” he said.
She responded mockingly, “Here I am, thinking conscience is the last thing you care about in the world.”
Then, she had no intention to talk with him further. Putting on her sunglasses, she said, “I’ll be in touch when I have news!”
The next thing she knew, he gripped her arm.

that it was Noah.
It felt as if time itself was frozen.
He could barely remember how he found the strength to answer the call. His voice was stiff when he said, “What do you want, Noah? What are you going to do to Gwynn?”
Noah’s voice sounded cold at the other end of the phone. “Are you scared, Liam? Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of her. She’s been doing fine. In fact, she’s pregnant with my baby now.
“It’s just that she’s concerned over the fact that you offended a lot of people, what with you being the top lawyer and all. She’s so worried that she can’t even sleep well at night.
“You know what you have to do if you really care about her.”
Liam wore a blank expression and responded mockingly, “Are you threatening me to quit being a lawyer, Noa? Fine. I’ll release a statement tomorrow. I’m going to leave the legal industry forever you happy now?”
Noah smiled faintly in response.
Then, his tone turned gentle. “Why so serious? I just want to see ho far you’ll go for your sister’s sake…”

Liam looked at it and roared, “Damn you, Noah… You bastard!”
He lost his cool. He had all but forgotten that he was the best lawyer in the country.
At that moment, he was just worried sick about Gwynn.
Zoe wasn’t aware that both she and Liam were on the trending search until she got home. One of the uploaded pictures was taken when he grabbed her arm. The affection in his eyes was unmistakable.
Ella was so concerned that she called to check on her.
Zoe explained softly, “That’s not what happened! He waited to catch me at the airport because he wanted to find out more about Gwynn! Anyway, have you settled down in Brookesville? Is Tabitha finding it okay?”
Tabitha was Farley’s young daughter and she was very close to Ella. Ever since Farley passed away, she had been staying with Ella. In fact, she returned to Brookesville because of her stepmother too.
Ella responded, “Everything’s going well. I’m looking for a school for her now!”
Now that they were talking about it, Zoe wondered how the school search was going for Mason.
