Chapter 466
David apologized to Zoe from the bottom of his heart. In his mind, he had broken a promise because he fell in love with that young girl.
Holding the documents, she said joyfully, “This information is what mattered most to me, David! I’ll chalk anything else up to fate!”
“You got that right! It is fate!” David smiled dryly, even a little bitterly, but he didn’t say anything. After dinner, he walked with her to the parking lot.
Zoe was wearing a pair of high heels and she didn’t notice a hole on the ground. She staggered a little when she stepped into it.
Almost without thinking, David held her waist, trying to support her Touching her jogged his memory and threw him to the past, whi was evident by the affection in his eyes.
He said, “I hope the information I gave you is going to help Mason recover a little faster.”

Smiling warmly, she said, “Thank you, David. See you soon.”
David opened the car door for her like the gentleman that he was. A night breeze blew past him and he looked at her one last time with longing and lust in his eyes.
He knew very well that they could never be together again.
Zoe had always loved Mason. It wasn’t sympathy, either. She really did love him from the bottom of her heart. Once they recognized each other as soulmates, they could never replace each other with another person, even if that person was a better choice.
Then, the breeze turned into a howling wind.

Hugging her gently, he rested his chin on her head and said tenderly, ” You deserve to be happy. You got that?”
She felt a lump in her throat. “I do, David.”
The hug didn’t last for more than a second.
There wasn’t any resentment. Instead, they wished each other the very best. Perhaps that was how it worked for couples. If you came later than another guy, you’ll have missed out on her.
There was a black Rolls-Royce at the far corner of the parking lot. The window in its backseat was lowered halfway through, revealing a stunning man in it.
It was none other than Mason.
He saw it when they came out of the hotel and hugged each other i the parking lot. He saw the longing in Zoe’s eyes.
He wore a blank expression the entire time.
Perhaps he should be glad that Zoe was thoughtful of his pride. After all, she did try to keep her date with David a secret.
So, they were in the hotel suite just now. How many times had they done it? He wondered if it felt better for her to be able to make love
with a man with working limbs.
These dark thoughts began to consume his gloomy heart.
By the time she returned to the manor, it was close to ten in the night.
Her kids were already asleep and so were most of the servants. One of them left the night light in the living room on to wait for their
master’s return.

Worried that she might wake the kids, she took off her high heels the moment she came inside, held them in her hands, and climbed
upstairs.
“Where have you been? It’s very late.
She heard a familiar voice from the poorly lit living room.
She jumped out of shock.
Turning to look at the source of the voice, she saw Mason sitting on
the couch in the living room. He was dressed all in black, which helped him blend in the darkness. She could barely make him out if she squinted and looked carefully.
She decided she’d be truthful.
Raising her hand, she turned on the light and said softly, “David’s
back. I had dinner with him and…”
He cut her off before she could finish.
His face was solemn and his words were forthright and cutting. On top of that, he didn’t care about her pride.
“Did you have sex with him? How many times? It must’ve felt better when you did it with him! At least, you didn’t have to do all the work and swing your hips while sitting on a gimp’s lap. Or, perhaps you get off on doing it with a gimp like me.”
It was a night in autumn and Zoe shivered all over.
She knew there were issues between them. She also knew that his
mind was in a dark place. However, it never occurred to her that he’d insult and humiliate her this way.
What did he take her for?
Was she the sort of lady who’d have casual sex because she felt
