Chapter 468
Zoe didn’t cry or weep. After all, she was the mother of two children
now.
As she said, once she left, she was never coming back. She’d still look after Mason, but she’d keep a distance from him.
Her silver Rolls-Royce pulled out of his manor slowly.
Mason was sitting in the study. He watched quietly as her car drove off into the distance.
She left!
He was so harsh to her that she actually left! Truth be told, he knew just how cruel he had been to her last night.
He intended to light up a cigarette, but his hand was trembling so much that he couldn’t do it. In a fit of fury, he snapped it in half.
Then, he wheeled himself to the guest room.
The place was all cleaned up and tidied as if she had never been there.
Returning to the master bedroom, he realized she had changed the bedsheet. There was a lingering warm smell of ironed clothes in the fitting room. He used to love that smell. On top of that, his medicines were lined up neatly.
There was a thin necklace on top of a document.
It was the necklace he handpicked for her after she returned to Brookesville. It wasn’t custom-made or anything like that. Instead, he spent two hours, trying to pick a perfect necklace for her in a mall.
The joy on her face when she received it was still fresh in his mind. The fact was that it didn’t take much to please Zoe.

Tears began to fill his eyes.
Then, he saw the document underneath it. It was written in
Slovetzian. He understood enough of it to know it was information about his condition. He knew that David had gone to Slovetzia.
Did they meet up yesterday because of this document?
His fingers started to tremble. Flipping to the last page, he found a note from Zoe. It was addressed to him. It read,
“You said you’re sick of torturing yourself. Here’s what I have to say about it. It’s torturing to forgive someone too. It also took me a great deal of courage when I decided to love you again. After all, I used to love and hate you!
“I’d describe my love for you this way, Mason. It was like casting an ember onto a barren land. It might be mild at first, but it had the potential to catch on and spread to every inch of the land in no time.
“I, too, felt hopeless and struggled to survive the pain, but I love you. So, why would I regret it just because I have to bear some pain?
“I don’t regret it! I’ve never regretted loving you, Mason.
“However, despite my best efforts, our relationship has inevitably come to an end!”
Mason read her note in a daze.
At the next moment, his vision was blurred and he could no longer read the words. However, he could still read them in his mind.
She said that she, too, felt hopeless and struggled to survive the pain. Be that as it may, he ignored her. All he could see was his own sorrow.
She also said that once she left, sheld never come back…

He had responded to her asking if it was paradoxically more exciting for her to be with a gimp like him.
He locked himself in the fitting room and didn’t come downstairs for a long time.
It was ten in the morning when Ava came over!
She didn’t know that Mason and Zoe had just ended things bitterly. She was here to show him to newspaper. Its headline was about
David.
“Wealthy young lady met up with a prestigious agent.”
He read it wordlessly as his heart trembled.
She said, “Zoe probably broke up with David before getting back with you, Mr. Mason! She had never been unfaithful. I was right to believe
in her.”
Raising his head slightly, he couldn’t help but keep gulping, the veins on his neck popped out…
Zoe was such a fool. He couldn’t believe that she chose him when
David was there for her!
