Tears started to fill Mason’s eyes.
Ava, who was standing at the side, had heard about what happened earlier today from the servants downstairs. So, she seized the opportunity and said, “The misunderstanding has been cleared up. You can go ahead and take Zoe back now, Mr. Mason!”
He didn’t say anything.
Pulling out the thin necklace from his pocket, he looked at it affectionately and touched it gently. There was no way his assistant would understand him. How was he supposed to take her back now?
Given his current condition, they’d just fight again even if they managed to cross this hurdle.
More to the point, Zoe wouldn’t return.
That was what she said when she left. She’d never come back once
she left. However, he still did nothing while she walked out of his
manor.
Ava was growing a little impatient when he said dryly, “Make an appointment with David! I need to thank him in person.”
Flat out of options, she did his bidding.
Mason met David in the same hotel around three in the afternoon.
David was there with his girlfriend. She was very obedient and kept clinging to him while she played games.
Mason recognized her. She was the only daughter of a wealthy businessman and was very young at the ripe age of twenty years old.

However, he summarily ignored her.
He didn’t eat anything either. Sitting in the luxurious restaurant, he thanked David formally, “I’ve sent the information to the lab. Their feedback to me was that it was very valuable. I owe you one, David.”
Before David met up with Mason, he had heard from Ava that he
kicked Zoe out of the manor.
Naturally, he was more than displeased by it, but he held back his irritation. Firstly, he did it for Zoe. Secondly, he saw the state Mason was in and decided he wouldn’t be nasty to him.
Patting his girlfriend, he asked her to play her games elsewhere.
As mentioned before, she was very obedient to him and left shortly.
David took a glass of wine and sipped it before saying, “You don’t owe me anything, Mason. I’m only doing this for Zoe! She loves you very much. If only she had loved you a tad less, I wouldn’t have let her go! We didn’t sleep together or anything. After all, we were destined to break up as soon as we got together.”
If Zoe hadn’t returned to Brookesville and reunited with Mason, perhaps their relationship would’ve ended differently. With that said, he couldn’t fight destiny.
He rose and left.
Their backs were turned to each other when he said in a deep voice,” She let go of her pride just so she could love you! Want to know something, Mason? I loved her before you did. I had fallen in love with
her ever since we were children.
“She was so cheerful and full of life back then, but, damn it, all she
ever saw was you! So, stop messing her up if you don’t love her.
“She’s a great lady. She deserves happiness.”

Mason was left alone in the luxurious restaurant.
He sat there for such a long time that the dishes had gone cold. The manager came over in person and asked respectfully, “Do you need more food, Mr. Mason?”
“Forget it!”
Casting a glance at the dishes before him, he said blankly, “Give me the check!”
He was in a foul mood. Luke tried hard to make him smile as soon as
he got into the car, but he wasn’t very responsive. So, the old chauffeur scratched his head and trailed off into silence.
Pressing on the button, Mason lowered the car window halfway through.
Crimson clouds drifted across the evening sky.
Then, he vaguely recalled that Yanni’s school day was over right about now. He wondered if she would ask her mom why couldn’t sh go back to her dad’s manor today. After all, girls were very curious at this age.
Also, what about Jamie? He loved leaning on the side of his shoulder every night. Would he have trouble sleeping tonight?
Gulping, he said lightly, “Take me to Zoe!”
