Chapter 470
Luke turned the car around without further prompting and drove straight towards Zoe’s manor. He said, “It’s almost time for dinner now. You could always grab a bite there, Mr. Mason. I know that you love Mia’s cooking.”
“Don’t overstep your station!”
Raising the car window, Mason leaned back on the leather seat. He was mulling over what he should say to Zoe when he saw her later. They had broken up for less than ten hours, but it had been long and torturing enough for him.
His black Rolls-Royce pulled into Zoe’s manor slowly.
Opening his car door, he saw darkness streaking across the evening sky. Like Luke said, it was just about time for dinner. He could almost smell the delicious odor from the kitchen.
Yanni was playing catch with Jamie on the lawn. The moment she saw her dad’s car, she was beside herself with joy and yelled, “Daddy!”
She took two huge steps forward before remembering her little brother. Then, she turned around, carried him, and scampered over to her dad with heavy steps.
Both of his kids were standing by his wheelchair. One of them held his arm lovingly while the other held his leg enthusiastically. After that, Yanni ran over and poked her head into the car, checking if Sherry was there also.
Smiling lightly, Mason said, “I didn’t know I’d come here until the last minute. So, I didn’t bring it with me!”
Nevertheless, Yanni was overjoyed to see her dad.

Racing her way back to him, she held his arm and whispered, “Jamie missed you a lot, Daddy. He even cried over it!”
Mason turned his gaze at his little boy.
Jamie was very proud. So, he buried his face in his dad’s feet, refusing to look at him.
Patting his head, Mason said gently, “I’ll visit you guys more often, then. Here’s an idea. Maybe I’ll take you guys to my manor and stay there for a couple of days.”
Yanni looked at him naively. “What about Mommy?”
Mason responded sobbingly, “Mom’s busy with her work now. She’ll also stay there when she’s got more time on her hands.”.
At that moment, Zoe came out of the manor.
Standing on the steps, the outdoor light behind her cast off an orange glow that somewhat softened her features. She was wearing a simple long dress that complimented her figure.
Both of them locked gazes with each other for a long time.
A hint of affection traced Mason’s face as he looked at her reddened eyes. Obviously, she cried after they broke up. He couldn’t help but ask, “Are you still heartbroken over it?”
Ignoring him, she walked down the steps, patted Yanni’s head, and said gently, “Take your brother inside and wash your hands. It’s time for dinner!”
Yanni looked at her dad pitifully.
Zoe saw it and smiled faintly, “Your dad’s going to join us too.”
The little girl could finally relax. Taking her brother’s hands, she ran into the manor with a spring in her steps.

Zoe kept her gaze on them until they disappeared into the living room before she turned around and looked at Mason. She said dryly, “It’s over between us, Mason. Why would you say something like that? I’m long over my carrot-and-stick stage.
Then, she stopped and wheeled him into her manor.
He grabbed her hands and called out to her desperately, “Zoe!”
Alas, she didn’t respond to him.
The way she saw it, he was the father of her children. So, she merely treated him like an important guest. She’d put some food on his plate and take care of his pride.
Even Mia didn’t give him any dirty looks.
It was as if everything went back to the way it was. However, something was missing. Zoe treated him well, but there was a lack of intimacy. He could tell from her eyes that she no longer saw him as her husband.
After dinner, he spent some time with Jamie.
Zoe was standing on the wooden floorboard by the window, showin Yanni how to play the violin. Perhaps it was because her dad was here. The little girl paid more attention than usual. In fact, she was almost able to play a complete song.
