Chapter 471
Zoe encouraged her little girl affectionately.
Standing underneath the crystal chandelier, her long dress
complimented her darling figure as well as her ample breasts. She had tied up her long, black hair, revealing her fair neck.
In his mind, she had always been warm and beautiful. She may have been extremely successful with her businesses, but he could never find anything fierce about her.
He lost track of time, staring at her.
She unwittingly met his gaze and saw that he was staring at her profoundly. At the next moment, she turned her head away nonchalantly.
It was ten in the night by the time he left her manor.
Zoe came downstairs to see him off. He wheeled himself to his black
Rolls-Royce, but he didn’t get into it. He asked quietly, “Are the kids
sleeping?”
“Yes,” she responded.
The night was quiet and they were left alone. He stared at her for a long time before he said softly, “I found the document you left behind and sent them to the lab. I read your letter too.”
At that moment, clouds obscured most of the moonlight.
He glanced at her profoundly for a moment before fishing a thin necklace out of his front pocket. Lowering his head, he ran his fingers over it affectionately and spoke with a trembling voice. “You forgot

this. So, I’m here to return it to you.”
Casting her glance at it, she shook her head gently and murmured, “I don’t want it anymore!”
Raising his eyes, he found that she was looking right at him.
Tears filled her eyes, but her tone was solid as a rock. “I don’t need it anymore, Mason! You can throw it into the trash if it bothers you. It’s getting late. You should go.”
With that, she turned around and walked toward the door.
The street lamp illuminated her slender shadow, stretching it longer
and longer still…
Mason merely sat in his wheelchair with the necklace in his hands. Raising his voice, he said, “Forgive me, Zoe.”
She picked up her pace and walked into her manor.
Love needed no apologies, Zoe thought.
For that matter, she certainly didn’t need his apologies, now that she
didn’t even love him.
The cold, unfeeling moonlight shone on him as he sat in his
wheelchair, staring at Zoe, who kept walking into the manor without so much as throwing a glance his way.
From that point on, he developed a nasty habit.
He started going on frequently.
He went to see Zoe. He was there when she was taking care of their kids, attended parties, and hung out with her friends. She looked cheerful in every single second of it all.
He had never seen her feeling downcast, not even for a second.

It was as if she had forgotten about their relationship and every painful memory that came with it. He couldn’t find any of that on her
face.
So, he started to think that breaking up was the right choice.
She had a brand new life once she left him. She no longer had to trap
herself in his manor and watch out for his emotional outbursts. For that matter, she didn’t have to walk on eggshells and look after his pride when they did it in the night.
Everything looked great for her…
Much time passed by and Christmas Eve was just around the corner.
Mason had an important project that required his personal attention. Ava arranged a five-star hotel for the meetup. It went rather well after an afternoon’s discussion.
Evening rolled on and he said farewell to his client.
He and Ava were making their way back to the hotel and discussing the aforementioned project. All of a sudden, he stopped talking when they reached the lobby. The next thing she knew, he raised his hand and pointed it somewhere.
Ava was a little surprised and cast her glance at the direction he was pointing. That was when she saw Zoe,
She was talking with an elegant man.
It was chilling to see. She wore a black overcoat and paired it with an LV cashmere scarf. Her hair was tied up and she wore stockings as well as a pair of high heels.
Her attire was a tad more charming than a lady’s common
businesswear. On top of that, she looked rather carefree and cheerful
too.

He couldn’t help but wonder who that man was.
