Chapter 475
Mason had arranged for his father to work in Lockwood Corporation’s mailroom for the past couple of years. After all, it was important to keep himself busy even if he was settled for life. It was baffling that no one ever recognized that the middle-aged gentleman in the mailroom was the former director of the company.
Of course, Westley never brought it up either. After all, he had a simple life.
He visited Mason every month. However, it did nothing to deepen
their bond.
Cecil nodded at Westley when he walked over. Then, he called for Ava to leave the room with him.
He knew they needed some space.
Lisa pulled herself together the moment she saw Westley. Pointing at Mason, she yanked at her husband’s collar and cursed him. “Have you gotten a good look at your son? Look at how messed up he is.
“If you hadn’t selfishly left all those years ago, this wouldn’t have happened! Why did you come back, Westley? What made you think it was okay to return?”
Westley was a refined and cultured man. He wasn’t exactly good with
words.
However, this was the first time he had retorted to her in the past
several years. He said in a broken voice, “Both of us did wrong back then, Lisa. You’re right. I did leave both of you, but can you honestly say that you didn’t do anything wrong?
“You took your hatred for me and poured it all over Mason and Zoe.

You were overly strict with him while being a nasty mother-in-law to her. So, tell me. Am I the only one at fault here?”
She instantly released her grip.
A hint of confusion traced her face. That was right. If she hadn’t raised him the way she did, Mason and Zoe wouldn’t have had to suffer like this…
Her son wouldn’t have to be in so much pain!
Nevertheless, she hated Westley. So, she took a step back. The last thing she expected was for him to grab her waist and pull her closer. So, she staggered and stumbled onto his shoulder.
How long had it been?
She had almost forgotten the touch of a man. Truth be told, she hadn’t gotten together with another man since Westley had left.
Lisa was still young when he first left. Naturally, she had her urges, too. Sometimes, she wished she had a shoulder to cry on. However, she loved him from the bottom of her heart. Over time, her love for him twisted and turned into hatred.
In the end, she saw every man in the world as unfaithful and untrustworthy.
Now, however, Westley’s familiar scent was about to make her fall apart. She cried and leaned onto his chest, hammering it while she unloaded her long-held resentment for him.
She bawled, but she suppressed her feelings. In the end, she didn’t say it out loud. She didn’t tell Westley how she actually missed him dearly and had been looking forward to his return the same way
Barbara did.
Tears welled up in Westley’s eyes as he apologized softly, “I’m sorry, Lisa! Please, forgive me!”
However, she shoved and pushed him away.

She didn’t need it. Whatever he was trying to do, it was too little, too late. Enough time had passed and she
alone.

At last, she exploded. “I want a divorce. Then, I want you out of my
life!”
It felt suffocating in Mason’s room.
He was still unconscious and mumbled Zoe’s name in his sleep, telling her how sorry he was.
Lisa stayed back to look after him.
Over the past few years, their relationship had gone terribly wrong and he wouldn’t let her come near him. She could only take care of him when he was passed out, just like in the old days.
Back then, Westley was still around. She had a wonderful life and her little boy was cheerful and highly intelligent.
Mason had yet to show signs of coming around. Lisa knelt before him and wiped the sweat off his forehead. Running her hands across his face affectionately, she said softly, “How about if I call her over? Are you going to get well and wake up if I ask her to come?”
All of a sudden, someone grabbed her hand.
It was Mason.
He was still unconscious, but his grip on her hand was very strong.
Burying herself on the bed, she burst into tears. She had almost lost him all those years ago. She couldn’t go through the same thing again.
The night rolled on and the thick layer of snow outside looked so bright against the dark of night.
