Sherry took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Mr. Sniper had just humiliated her, and
her anger had become uncontrollable. She had endured her mother–in–law’s criticism
for four years, so why couldn’t she control her emotions today?
Being scolded was nothing, but embarrassing Mr. Castillo would be unfair to Camila,
who had helped her find this job.
“Ms. Wilson, you’re amazing! I’ve been with Mr. Mateo for seven or eight years, and
you’re the first person to stand up to him like that. Are you a well–known makeup artist/
in the industry?” Samuel approached her and patted her on the shoulder.
Sherry forced a bitter smile. “I don’t want to deceive you, Mr. Samuel, but today… it’s
actually my first day at work.”
“What?!” exclaimed Samuel.
He quickly covered his mouth, afraid that Mateo would notice any mistakes.

Mateo had a history of despising talented stylists, and this unattractive girl with
black–framed glasses was sure to face even more difficulties.
Mr. Samuel sighed and shook his head, feeling bitter not only for himself.
With Mateo personally overseeing the task, everyone quickly got to work. Apart from
necessary work communication, no one dared to speak.

Sherry started by inspecting the cosmetics table and makeup box. Everything had been
well organized. The car models were lined up in front of the dressing mirrors, ready for
her to work on each one individually.
Her back felt like it was on fire–burning hot. Sherry realized that Mateo’s gaze was filled
with venom.
If her makeup didn’t meet the specifications even slightly, he would probably grab her
by the back of her neck and throw her out.
She rubbed her hands together, took a deep breath, and forced herself to relax.

Sherry had been studying diligently in Room 2307 for the past three days, and she had
a strong foundation from her previous work experience. She had also practiced on her
own face numerous times, so she was quite skilled in natural makeup.
The girls‘ complexion appeared even more radiant with ivory foundation and
highlighter. She kept their eye makeup minimal and natural, avoiding the use of false
lashes. Instead, she used an eyelash brush to make their lashes appear thinner and
longer. She chose a light shade for their final lip makeup. She bowed her head and
carefully studied their hairstyles. Based on their different hair textures and lengths, she
created an ancient–style hairstyle for each girl and secured it with simple silver hairpins.
She exuded the grace and beauty of an elegant woman, with her flowing black hair, fair complexion, lively and clear eyes, and cherry–like lips.

Sherry looked up at the wall clock. It was exactly ten o’clock.
Mateo couldn’t have missed seeing the girls‘ makeup from the moment she finished the
makeup for the first car model to the final one, which took about an hour.
Why didn’t he say anything?
Samuel had been standing by her side, occasionally observing Mateo’s facial
expressions. “Mr. Mateo, what do you think of the models‘ makeup? Is it good?”
Sherry’s chest tightened.
Mateo remained silent for a long time, and the backstage air almost solidified.

The car models walked out and went to their respective cars to prepare for the
exhibition, as arranged by Samuel.
Wearing eighteen–centimeter heels all day was not easy. Sherry admired how gracefully
they walked.
Matéo had approached her earlier and taken off her black–framed glasses. “Are you
nearsighted?”
“Huh?” Sherry was confused. “Um, yes, just a little.”
“Since you can make others look so good, why don’t you take care of yourself?” Mateo
scoffed. “Look at your clothes; did you buy them from a street stall for middle–aged and
elderly people, and did they cost more than fifty dollars?”
Sherry put her glasses back on. “I’m a makeup artist, not a car model; it’s not
necessary.”

“I feel comfortable dressing like this. Car models have to wear tight dresses and high
heels. They have to be careful when walking and worry about wardrobe malfunctions.

Sherry finally let out a sigh of relief and started packing the brushes and cotton pads.
Samuel walked over to her and gave her a thumbs up. “You’re amazing; you managed to
please Mr. Mateo, who is extremely picky!”

Samuel was terrified and trembling. “Ah, Mr. Mateo, I see you’re still here, hehehe.”

Mateo had a sly grin on his lips. “After the car show, there are seven more shows, and
I’ll double your current pay for each one. Are you coming or not?”
Sherry’s eyes widened with delight.
The current salary was $10,000, and doubling it would make it $20,000! Seven shows
meant a total of 140 thousand!
Mateo was generous despite his bad temper!
“I’m coming!” Sherry exclaimed excitedly. “I’m coming!”
Mateo chuckled softly. “Then grab your makeup kit and follow me; don’t just stand there

Sherry gathered all the makeup products from the table into her kit and followed
Mateo.
A staff member poked Mr. Samuel’s arm and grinned meaningfully. “Have you ever seen
Mr. Mateo treat anyone so nicely?”
Samuel gasped for air. “Did the sun rise from the west today?” “This Sherry is quite
lucky.”
“It’s not luck,” the staff member replied, smiling knowingly. “When a man and a woman
work together tirelessly, it signifies the arrival of spring!”
Sherry acknowledged that earning $10,000 was not going to be a walk in the park.
She had been working tirelessly all day, barely touching the ground with her feet and feeling the exhaustion in her fingers. Finally, as the car show came to an end, darkness

She took out her phone and realized that she had missed five calls.
She returned the call.

and sweetness. “Are you finished with work? I’ll meet you at the entrance of the car
show.”
Sherry felt relieved upon hearing the familiar voice. “Have you been waiting patiently for
me for a long time?”
“Not long: I just arrived.”
“Oh, then let me tidy up, and I’ll be there soon.”
Sherry carefully jotted down Sniper’s car model and license plate number before ending
the call.
Sherry was startled when she heard a voice from behind her. “Boyfriend?”
