Remarrying into Wealth By Bennett Snider Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Sherry had already fled, but her wrist was caught and yanked back.

Mateo removed her black–framed glasses and gently lifted her chin with his rough

fingers.

Her dark hair revealed a sensitive and lively face.

“Mr. Mateo, I need your assistance…”

Mateo’s eyes sparkled. “I can’t see clearly right now, but you look beautiful without

glasses.”

Sherry was speechless.

She didn’t even have time to retrieve her glasses from Mateo’s grasp before rushing to

the venue’s door, losing her shoes and hat along the way.

black Maybachresembling a cheetah in the darkness, was parked at the entrance of

the venue under the shade of a tree. Sherry examined it for a while before concluding

that it belonged to Sniper. She hurried over.

Sniper, still wearing his white mask, smiled as he opened the passenger door for her.

“Why did you run so fast? Was there a tiger chasing you?”

Sherry grabbed Sniper’s hand and jumped into the car with his help, locking the door

tightly.

Mateo, what were you thinking

He suddenly removed her black–framed glasses and whispered those

incomprehensible words.

Sherry didn’t want to add to the confusion, so she forced herself to relax and smiled.

“No, I was just worried that you had been waiting for a long time, so I ran all the way

here.”

The sniper raised an eyebrow but didn’t pursue the question further. He started the

engine.

It was her first time in Sniper’s car. The interior was clean and tidy, with no unnecessary

decorations. It was simple yet powerful, perfectly reflecting his personality.

“How was your first day of work?”

Sherry nodded. “Not bad; despite his bad temper, the boss has high standards and

strict requirements, which I can understand.”

Sniper was also happy for her. “As long as you enjoy it, keep doing it. Sherry, I’ve always

told you to be more confident; your life shouldn’t revolve around cooking and doing

laundry. You’re still young, and there’s a whole world out there waiting for your

to

explore.”

Sherry’s lips twitched, and a warm feeling filled her heart.

The difference between people was too great. Malcolm married her and treated her like

an unpaid housekeeper, while Sniper nurtured, encouraged, and guided her into a life

she had never known.

“Well, I think I can handle it.”

“Handle what?”

“Work and life,” Sherry replied, “I enjoy this job, and I can do it well. I can also take care

of you.”

“You don’t have to do everything yourself; we can hire someone to do the housework.”

“But you’ve given me a lot of money and even saved my uncle… Sniper, I’ve always

considered you my benefactor, my savior, who pulled me out of the darkness when I

had nowhere else to go. But I can’t think of any way to repay you other than doing

household chores, which I’m good at.”

Sniper interrupted her. “Sherry, what I need from you is not repayment.”

“Then what do you want?”

“I want your heart and presence; I want you to have children with me, to live a happy

life, and to do whatever you want.”

Sherry was overwhelmed with emotions.

Chapter 25 Overestimation Of One’s Abilities

She bit her lower lip and glanced at him from the corner of her eye.

Sniper had the most defined jawline in the world.

Even though half of his face was covered by the mask, it was evident that he had a

unique appearance.

Sherry couldn’t understand why such an attractive and wealthy man would fall for an

ordinary woman like her, who had been crushed by society and her mother–in–law after

a failed marriage. It wasn’t her pessimism, but she couldn’t comprehend it.

“Sherry, what are you afraid of?”

Sherry shook her head shakily. “I don’t know. I know nothing about you; our only point of

contact is room 2307 at the Hilton Hotel. If you were to disappear one day, I wouldn’t

know where to find you.”

The air became heavy with a suffocating atmosphere.

I don’t want to force you to remove your mask. I don’t want to invade your privacy. I’m

just afraid of giving my whole heart and being abandoned again. I’ve already

experienced that feeling of despair, and I understand how hopeless it can be,” Sherry

expressed.

Silence.

The city center was illuminated by dazzling lights at night, and the Maybach glided

through the streets. The air inside the car seemed to thicken.

Sherry shook her head, cursing herself for being greedy and never content.

Sniper softly called out, “Sherry.”

Sherry looked up. “Hmm?”

“Do you really want to know?”

Sherry pondered for a while before saying, “Can I?”

Sniper tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, as if making a final decision, and said,

if you want to know, there’s nothing that can’t be revealed.”

Her heart seemed to be pounding in her throat.

Sherry tightly gripped her hands. “I want to know.”

At least now that she knew the truth, she could make a decision and face his kindness

with the right attitude.

You remind me of someone from my past, the sharpshooter revealed.

Get like a bucket of cold water had been poured over her head.

Despair glowed in Sherry’s eyes. “Someone from your past? Was she someone you

“Yes, the sharpshooter replied. “I was deeply in love with her.”

why didn’t you choose to be with her? Did something happen to her?

Super dook his head, a bitter smile on his face. “No, she’s doing well,” I say, but she’s

Chapter 25 Overestimation Of One’s Abilities

already married.”

Sherry’s smile was also a little forced. It would be a lie to say she didn’t feel some

sadness. She had imagined countless scenariosbut she had never imagined the reality

to be like this.

She was just a substitute.

But it was also acceptable. At least Sniper was honest with her and told her the truth.

before she fully entrusted him with her heart.

Although this truth was somewhat painful,

“You should fight for her,” Sherry whispered, lowering her head and her eyes stinging.

“Perhaps, if you had been more proactive back then, she would have chosen you.”

Sniper seemed lost in his memories, and his vision became blurred. “Yes, if only I had

been braver back then, maybe our present wouldn’t have turned out like this.”

Sherry asked“Sniper, do you still love her?”

“Yes, I still love her very much.”

“Then, if… I mean, if she changed her mind and came back to you, how would your

handle things with me?”

Chapter 1 Fallopian Tube Obstruction “What did I say? It’s your problem that you can’t conceive! Now that the test results are out, let’s see what you have to say!” Sherry Wilson’s grip on the test report wavered. When she saw the words “Blocked Fallopian Tubes” inscribed on it, she felt a chill from head to toe. After four years of marriage to Malcolm Ford, she still couldn’t get pregnant. Her mother-in-law pointed at her, with a furious look, implying that she was about to devour her. People passing by glanced at her as if she were a joke, pointing and gossiping, adding to the chaos. Malcolm was the only son of the Ford family, and she understood her mother-in-law’s desire for a grandson. So she had silently endured it all this time. “Mom,” Sherry said patiently, “let’s go home and talk.” “That’s my home, not yours. Get it straight! I have never recognized you as a member of the Ford family. You’re not worthy!” Her mother-in-law’s words were venomous. Sherry closed her eyes, feeling helpless. “We are legally married, and we have a marriage certificate.” “I’m telling you, Sherry, divorce Malcolm immediately! You won’t get a penny of the Ford family’s wealth!” As more people gathered around her, the sweltering weather and their piercing stares made her feel even more humiliated. Sherry took a deep breath, feeling helpless and hopeless.
