Chapter 27
Her train of thought was abruptly interrupted by a familiar voice.
“Mr. Ford!” she exclaimed sharply.

Malcolm paused for a moment before speaking. “Don’t act so distant; after all, we were
once married… What are you doing here? Did you come with Camila?”
“And what are you doing here?” Camila pulled Sherry behind her and shielded her with
her own body as she confronted Malcolm. “Mr. Ford, you have no right to interfere in
Sherry’s life; where she goes is none of your business!”
Malcolm furrowed his brow, and his tone turned sour. “Is Ms. Castillo interfering too
much in our conversation?”
“What Camila said is exactly what I wanted to say. Mr. Ford, we are divorced. I have no
obligation to report my whereabouts to you.”
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Sophia rushing into the room.

When their eyes met, Sophia’s expression turned angry, but Sherry stood tall and
fearless.

Sophia hurried to Malcolm’s side, her tone gentle. “Malcolm, why didn’t you wait for me
before coming in?” “Oh, Sherry, you’re here too.”
“I am not your sister,” Sherry said flatly, “and I can never hope to achieve the esteemed.
status of Mrs. Ford.”
“We are family, and that’s an unchangeable fact.” Sophia smiled and said, “It’s not me
who’s esteemed, but the child in my belly. He’s the first grandson of the Ford family, so
Malcolm and Mom are both very concerned. That’s why they insisted on buying me a
car, saying it would be safer for me and the child when we go out. And here we are,
getting the license plate today, unexpectedly running into my sister.”
“I don’t want to run into you at all,” Sherry stated flatly. “I’ll leave first; do as you please.”
Malcolm locked his gaze on Sherry’s retreating figure, yearning to follow her.
“Malcolm, let’s go inside and handle the paperwork; we finally got a number after

waiting for so long.” Sophia said, grabbing his hand.
Malcolm impatiently shook her hand off and added, “You handle it yourself; I’m going
back to the company.”

“Are you going back to the company or after my cousin?” Sophia suppressed her anger.
“Malcolm, I’m carrying your child right now; with so many people here, anything could
happen, but if something happened to the child, all our efforts would be in vain,”
Sherry’s white gown had already disappeared from sight.
Malcolm clenched his teeth and averted his gaze, his tone less than pleasant. “Sophia,
was it necessary for you to insist on the car? Did you say those things on purpose to
irritate her?
“It’s her nephew too. We’re all family. I expected my cousin to sympathize with me for
the difficulties of childbirth, but I didn’t expect her to be so heartless.” Sophia’s eyes
turned red, and she lowered her head in disdain.
Malcolm sighed helplessly and rubbed his forehead. “I know it wasn’t easy for you to

conceive this child… Forget it; let’s stop talking about it and go inside to deal with the
paperwork.”
“Malcolm, are you still unable to forget about my sister?” Sophia asked playfully.
Malcolm stopped in his tracks, his speech becoming slightly stuttered. “No, it’s not like
that; don’t overthink it.”
“Hasn’t my sister changed a lot from before? She’s become much more beautiful than
before, and that might attract other men. Maybe she doesn’t mind being pursued by
other men, even if she’s divorced. As long as she can find a good home, I can rest
assured.”
Malcolm stopped walking, his anger hidden between his brows. “Do you know if there
are any other men pursuing her?”
“You don’t know, Malcolm?” Sophia seemed surprised. “Last time, Camila took her on a
yacht, and a few wealthy second–generation men were interested in her.”
“Wealthy second–generation men?” sneered Malcolm. “Aside from racing cars and

dating models, what do those wealthy second–generation men do? Without their
wealthy fathers, they’re just a bunch of spoiled brats! What’s so great about them?”
“As long as they treat my sister well,” Sophia said, smiling, “I will support anyone who
treats Sherry well.”
Malcolm gave her a cold stare and walked away without saying anything.

“Malcolm…” Sophia hurriedly followed, her voice filled with irritation. “This is the second
time you’ve left me alone; the first time, you left without saying anything, and I ended
up
paying the bill.”
“Heh, do I have to report to you every time I go somewhere?” Malcolm stopped and
stared at her coldly. “Sophia, you better understand your own position! Just because
you’re carrying a child doesn’t mean you have the upper hand! You secretly made a
divorce agreement with Sherry and even printed wedding invitations. I used to think
you were sensible and obedient, but I didn’t expect you to have two faces, huh?”
Sophia felt humiliated after Malcolm scolded her in front of everyone.

“Malcolm, no matter what, I am carrying a child for your Ford family. Something Sherry
couldn’t do! How can you say such things to me?” she gritted her teeth.
“Speaking of the child,” Malcolm remarked coldly, “if it wasn’t for you intentionally
seducing me, claiming that you wanted to repay me and Sherry by helping us have al
child, I wouldn’t have taken any precautions.”
Sophia was taken aback. “Do you still love her?”
Malcolm responded contemptuously with “It has nothing to do with you” and left the
automobile registration office, ignoring Sophia’s calls.
Malcolm tried calling Sherry from outside, but a robotic female voice informed him that
her phone was switched off.
He scoffed angrily. Sherry never turned off her phone unless she had blocked him.
She had become so ruthless that she had a man on her side!
Jealousy flared up in his chest like a fire. Malcolm found a phone number and dialed it

again. “Is this a private detective agency? I need your assistance in investigating
someone; the fee is negotiable. Yes, I suspect my wife had an affair during our
marriage, and I want to know everything about that man.”
Only Sophia’s mother–in–law, Violet Patel, was present when she returned to the Ford
family villa.
“Sophia, why are you back alone? Where’s Malcolm?” Violet asked.
Sophia put on a brave face. “He had some business to attend to at the company, so he
left first.
Violet sighed and walked slowly up to her. “Malcolm shouldn’t have left while you’re
pregnant; I’ll talk to him when he returns today.”
There was an odd smell in the air.
Sophia frowned and sniffed, becoming more suspicious. “Mom, is something broken in
the house? There’s a strange odor.”

“Oh, I was just about to tell you,” Violet exclaimed. “I went to buy eggs this morning, but
half of them were rotten! I just flushed all the eggs down the toilet; they were fine
yesterday, but who knew they would be so bad this morning?”
Sophia, already feeling nauseous due to her pregnancy, couldn’t help but rush to the
restroom to vomit when she smelled the terrible odor.
This was unbelievable.
How delightful: rotten eggs, a clogged toilet, and her own vomit. It was hard to believe.
Violet was shocked, so she covered her mouth and nose. “Sophia, please go and
unclog the toilet.”
Sophia’s eyes widened in surprise and she pointed to her own nose in confusion. “Me?
Unclog it?!”
“Well, it’s just the two of us at home; do I have to be mean and unclog the toilet?” Violet
asked innocently. “Hurry up, Sophia; this house is simply unbearable.”

Sophia was furious all the way home. She expected Violet to be kind to her, but she
didn’t expect to be told to unblock the toilet, especially since she was pregnant.
“Mom, I’m pregnant, and it’s very inconvenient.”
“You’re only less than three months pregnant; it doesn’t affect your normal activities,
and unclogging the toilet doesn’t require much physical exertion; it’s not a big deal,”
Violet remarked anxiously.
Sophia couldn’t contain her anger any longer. “Mom, I am Malcolm’s second wife from
the Ford family, do you really expect me to unclog the toilet?”
Violet was furious as this was the first time her daughter–in–law had spoken to her like
this. “What kind of talk is that? I’m still Malcolm’s mother. When Sherry was here, I made
her do whatever I wanted her to do. How come you suddenly think you’re too noble to
do it?”
