Chapter 28
Sherry called again.
And she’s here!!
Why is she often compared to Sherry?

She’s a genuine graduate of a foreign business school; everything she eats, wears, and
uses is branded. Why should she be compared to that filthy Sherry?
Sophia’s anger surged. She couldn’t confront Violet right now.
She had to endure until she and Malcolm received their marriage license and she
secured her position as the young mistress of the Ford family.
Sophia took a deep breath, trying to calm down. “Forget about it, Mom; I’ll call someone
to fix it.”
“No, it’s a waste of money to call someone to fix it; the Ford family may be wealthy, but
we can’t afford to waste money on unnecessary repairs; it’s just a toilet, it’s not a

difficult thing.” Violet replied, rolling her eyes.
Sophia hissed, “Mom, fixing a toilet doesn’t cost much.”

“If we can avoid spending, we should. Your father works hard for the money, but you
spend it without a second thought,” Violet gently complained. “And those cosmetics on
your dressing table–they’re not cheap, right? And those fancy perfumes–they look so
expensive. You spend tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of dollars on
cosmetics, but you don’t look any better than Sherry, who uses a cheap bottle of Lux
soap. Why waste so much money?”
Sophia closed her eyes. She felt like she was about to explode. “Mom, did you touch my
cosmetics?”
“The toilet smelled so bad, I sprayed your perfume,” Violet hissed. “What’s wrong? Why
can’t I touch them?”
Those fragrances…
They’re all limited editions from Bulgari!

“Mom, if you’re going to use my things, at least let me know,” Sophia coldly remarked.
Violet didn’t care. “Your belongings were all purchased with my son’s money; what’s
wrong with me using them?”
Hold it in; don’t get angry, or her efforts will be in vain. She had to keep it together.
She couldn’t afford to offend them, but she could escape from them.
“Mom, I have something to do; I’m leaving.”
Violet yelled, “Hey, if you leave now, who will fix the toilet?”
Sophia left abruptly, without looking back. “I’ll call someone to come fix it; don’t
I’ll pay for it myself; you don’t have to.”
Luckily, Malcolm had gotten her a car, which she registered today.
Otherwise, she would have had to take a taxi!
Sophia took the wheel, leaving the Ford family villa in a cloud of dust.

Violet’s voice faded behind her. “Be careful with the child! That’s my precious
grandson!”
Grandson? Violet seemed to genuinely care about her, but it was only for the sake of
her unborn child. Who knew how the child would be treated once she was born?
Do you do housework?
No way!
Sophia was born to be a young mistress, not a maid!
After driving for a while, Sophia’s phone rang.
She pulled over to the side of the road and cried when she saw the caller ID: “Mom,
when are you coming back? I’m being bullied by the Ford family.”
Nora, Sophia’s biological mother, was on the other end of the phone. Of course, Noah
insisted on raising Sherry, despite their family not being wealthy. She strongly disagreed
and ended up fighting with Noah before leaving and never returning.

Nora was concerned after hearing her daughter’s sobbing voice. “I won’t be able to

return until next month at the earliest; you didn’t have a quarrel with the Fords, did you?”
Sophia sniffed. “No, I listened to you and endured it.”
“That’s good, that’s good. We have to endure a little for the sake of our future, and I
apologize for making you suffer.”
Sophia couldn’t help but nod. “Mom, Sherry has found Ms. Gianna, and she discovered
that Ms. Gianna gave her a forged medical report, and Malcolm seems to be interested
in her. I’m terrified.”
“Don’t be afraid; Ms. Gianna has been a good friend of mine for many years; even if she
finds out about the fake report, she won’t expose us,” Nora reassured her.
“Okay, then I’ll feel relieved.”
Sophia hesitantly hung up the phone after a brief conversation.
She dialed Malcolm’s number, but he hung up,
Chapter 28 The Fortune Wheel
Sophia was so enraged that she threw her phone into the back seat of her car and
drove to the company to check in.
Sherry glanced at the clock on the wall in Hilton Hotel room 2307. It was almost 8:30,
and Mr. Sniper would be there soon.
She stood up, turned off all the lights in the room, and started watching a makeup
tutorial as she waited for him to return.
After a while of watching, she became distracted and couldn’t concentrate. During the
day, she had discovered Mr. Sniper’s true identity through his license plate number, and
her mind was in chaos.
She decided to abandon the tutorial and go straight to Maverick’s profile.
There wasn’t much information available online about Maverick, other than financial
news.
Maverick was clearly a shrewd businessman with a good sense of smell. He almost
single–handedly popularized the top domestic businesses, including a successful talent
show called “Idol Trainee” in which he invested.

“What exactly are you looking at?”
She was so absorbed in her search that she didn’t notice Sniper’s return, and she was
startled, almost dropping her phone.

Sherry quickly switched back to the main screen, turned it off, and set it aside. “You’re
back; I’ll heat up your food.”
“Mmm,” Sniper said as he loosened his tie and embraced her from behind. “Sherry, why
are you so curious about my identity?”
Sherry tensed up.
She had completely forgotten that Mr. Sniper knew everything about her. How could he
have missed her visit to the vehicle management office?
“…” she bit her lower lip, unsure of what to say.
Mr. Sniper kissed her on the neck. “I told you I’d tell you when the time was right; I’m not
Maverick, so stop wasting your time on these futile efforts, okay?”
Chapter 28 The Fortune Wheel
Sherry could feel her heart racing and her cheeks flushing.
She was caught red–handed and in the wrong.
Mr. Sniper, however, didn’t seem to mind. “Let me see, what delicious food did you
make today?” he asked instead.
He held Sherry from behind as they walked to the kitchen, their bodies pressed
together.
“Mushrooms with greens, shredded chicken salad, steamed egg custard, and lean pork
congee,” Sherry described the menu. “They’re all light flavors that you like.”
Sniper was delighted. “Good job, girl.”
His hands were wandering, sliding around her waist and slowly moving upward.
Was this the appropriate response for a gay man when faced with a woman?
Sherry gently restrained his misbehaving hand. “Um… may I ask you a question that is
unrelated to your sexual orientation?”
“Mm, of course.”
“Are you interested in men?”
Mr. Sniper burst into laughter, then lovingly caressed her nose. “I’ll leave it for you to
determine. Do you think I am homosexual or not?”
