Chapter 29

“You won’t die if you don’t want to,” Sherry apologized for asking such a foolish

question.

Mr. Sniper’s expectations of her seemed limitless. He couldn’t be gay if he didn’t like.

women.

Sherry’s body felt as if it had been run over the day before when she was preparing for

her uncle around midday.

But what should she say?

Despite her exhaustion, she felt a sense of fulfillment in her heart, as though she was

needed.

Sherry believed that her previous ideas were too limited. How could a man of Mr.

Sniper’s power and influence not have women around him? He could also be described

as devoted, having been obsessed with that one woman until now. Mr. Sniper was

completely different from Malcolm, who had an affair within his marriage and even with

his own sister–in–law.

And she was in her second marriage as well. It seemed like she was taking advantage

of Mr. Sniper by accepting his money and doing a job that any ordinary maid could do.

She had been preoccupied with preparing for the car show for the past few days and

hadn’t seen her uncle in two days.

It was lunchtime when she arrived at the hospital.

The other patients in the same ward were not present; only her uncle stood by the

window, gazing out at the surroundings.

“What are you thinking about, Uncle?” Sherry asked.

When Noah turned around, he noticed Sherry. His expression suddenly softened. “You

didn’t have to come all the way here just to bring me food; there’s a cafeteria downstairs

in the hospital where I can get food myself.”

“The food outside doesn’t taste as good as homemade; try it, Uncle; I made your

favorite tomato scrambled eggs today.”

Sherry had been in charge of cooking for the entire family since she was a child. Sophia

went overseas once she got married and was no longer able to stay at home, and both

uncles were reluctant to eat outside. They usually managed at home.

After a while, both of them couldn’t eat much more. Now that she was no longer

confined by the Ford family, she would definitely prepare for her uncle and bring it over.

Sherry had specifically prepared numerous healthy dishes for someone who had

recently recovered from a major illness.

Noah ate with enthusiasm, too focused on eating to speak, quickly finishing the rice.

“Uncle, take your time eating; if you like these dishes, I’ll make them again tomorrow.”

Noah groaned quietly upon hearing this.

Sherry handed him cup of steaming hot water. “What’s wrong, Uncle?”

Noah’s forehead furrowed slightly, showing concern. “Sherry, tell your uncle the truth

have you and Malcolm broken up?”

“I…” Sherry’s smile froze. “No, Uncle, have you heard any rumors or gossip?”

Noah moved the lunch box aside and gently patted Sherry’s head. “Sherry, I’ve watched

you grow up since you were a child. You’ve endured and accommodated everything for

Sophia, even giving up your own future. You’ve done enough for her. I haven’t heard any

rumors or gossip, but I’m not deaf. I could tell something from what Malcolm and

Sophia said when they came to see me that day. Sherry, I just want to remind you that if

Sophia has any other intentions, don’t keep accommodating her.”

Sherry’s heart sank.

So Uncle had already figured it out.

It all made sense. It wasn’t surprising that Uncle had seen the obvious intimacy

between Sophia and Malcolm that day.

Fortunately, Uncle only suspected, and he had no idea that she had already signed the

divorce agreement a long time ago.

“Uncle, don’t worry about me; I’ll handle my own affairs,” Sherry said softly

“You can handle it, but your way of handling it is to keep accommodating her

unconditionally.”

Noah firmly held her hand. His hands were rough from years of hard physical work, and

when they covered her hand, there was a rough and harsh feeling–the calluses caused

by constant work.

“I understand what you’re thinking. Your father abandoned his wife and child, and your

mother died young. You’ve been lenient towards Sophia because I raised you, but after

so many years, it’s really enough. You also have your own life, and I just hope you can

Five well.

Sherry’s uncle had taken on the role of a father and was the most important person in

her life.

Tears welled up in Sherry’s eyes, and she tightly gripped Noah’s handnodding heavily. Uncle, M be fine. I have a friend named Camila, do you remember her? She introduced me to a job as a makeup artist, and I can earn $10,000 per day!”

Really? Noah couldn’t contain his excitement. “That’s fantastic! You should properly

thank Camila, you know?”

“Yes, I know.”

“You should also get along well with your coworkers and be polite to your superiors, it’s

always better to have one more friend than one more enemy, and having goodwill

towards people and things is always right.”

Sherry smiled and said, “Okay, Uncle, I’ll listen to you.”

Noah still had concerns. “Does Malcolm object to you going to work? He comes from a

wealthy family, so he probably doesn’t like his wife going out and being in the spotlight;

don’t argue with Malcolm about this.”

“He…”

Chapter 1 Fallopian Tube Obstruction “What did I say? It’s your problem that you can’t conceive! Now that the test results are out, let’s see what you have to say!” Sherry Wilson’s grip on the test report wavered. When she saw the words “Blocked Fallopian Tubes” inscribed on it, she felt a chill from head to toe. After four years of marriage to Malcolm Ford, she still couldn’t get pregnant. Her mother-in-law pointed at her, with a furious look, implying that she was about to devour her. People passing by glanced at her as if she were a joke, pointing and gossiping, adding to the chaos. Malcolm was the only son of the Ford family, and she understood her mother-in-law’s desire for a grandson. So she had silently endured it all this time. “Mom,” Sherry said patiently, “let’s go home and talk.” “That’s my home, not yours. Get it straight! I have never recognized you as a member of the Ford family. You’re not worthy!” Her mother-in-law’s words were venomous. Sherry closed her eyes, feeling helpless. “We are legally married, and we have a marriage certificate.” “I’m telling you, Sherry, divorce Malcolm immediately! You won’t get a penny of the Ford family’s wealth!” As more people gathered around her, the sweltering weather and their piercing stares made her feel even more humiliated. Sherry took a deep breath, feeling helpless and hopeless.
