Chapter 37

Sherry was at a loss for words.

Mr. Sniper admired her hair, gently running his fingers through it before letting go,

appearing somewhat sluggish. “Stay away from him.”

Sherry nodded. “I will keep my distance from him.”

“Good girl,” Mr. Sniper said as his hand moved down from her head, tenderly caressing

her beautiful face. “I don’t want to let you go; I wish I could have you with me every day.”

He playfully tickled Sherry, causing her to dodge and turn her head. “Do you happen to

know Mateo?”

Mr. Sniper’s response was evasive. “Hmmyou could say that.”

It made sense since they were both privileged youngsters; it wasn’t surprising that they

knew each other.

Sherry stretched out and gently caressed his cheek.

As her hand moved up his jawline, the white mask faintly glimmered in the night. She

wanted to remember the curve of his jawline,

He seized her hand and brought it close to his lips for a quick kiss.

“I haven’t shaved properly; it might hurt.”

Sherry grinned and withdrew her hand, curling up in his arms, resting her head on his

shoulder, and closing her eyes for a nap.

“Mr. Sniper.”

“Yes?”

“Do I have a chance of winning if I sue Sophia in court?”

Mr. Sniper wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him. “What exactly

do you want to sue her for?”

Sherry also placed her arms around his waist and gently rested her chin on his chest.

“She went to find my uncle and deliberately said those things, clearly trying to provoke

him.

When I confronted her, she even asked if my uncle had died. This is murder! Even if it

didn’t succeed, it was intentional harm! She knew that my uncle had just had surgery

and couldn’t handle any stimulation, but she did it on purpose!”

“Hmm,” Mr. Sniper said calmly and authoritatively. “I understand your feelings, but

Sherry, whether it’s murder or intentional harm, your uncle must have physical injuries

or toxicology tests. However, he accidentally knocked over a bottle of boiling water

himself. Sophia, at best, can only be morally condemned; holding her legally

accountable would be difficult.”

Mr. Sniper’s explanation was exactly what she expected.

Sophia’s every hurtful word felt like a knife piercing her uncle’s heart, yet she didn’t

physically harm him.

Sherry felt little disappointed. “Words can really hurt.”

“Yes, throughout history, many people have been driven to death by words. Sophia used

her intelligence this time, and there’s probably someone behind her guiding her.”

While discussing it, Sherry suddenly remembered something. “Could it possibly be her

mother?”

“She has already remarried, and the existence of her ex–husband would diminish her

own value and prevent her daughter from marrying into a wealthy family. So, the

mother and daughter came up with this plan?” Mr. Sniper added.

Sherry remained silent and clenched her teeth. “I won’t let them succeed.”

“Do you need my help?”

Sherry made a hesitant motion with her head. “I’d like to handle it myself first, but if I’m

truly no match for Sophia and her mother, can you assist me?”

Mr. Sniper raised an eyebrow, approving of her suggestion. “know it’s not easy for you

to ask for my assistance, but I’ll be there for you.”

Sherry’s fingers crept up his shoulder, but she didn’t dare to meet his gaze. “When I was

young, my family was poor, but my uncle insisted on taking care of me. My aunt left him

because of this, and now that they’ve returned, I can’t let my uncle face them alone. He

protected me when I was young, and now it’s my turn to protect him.”

Mr. Sniper pressed her hand against his chest, allowing her to feel his warmth and

heartbeat.

“Sherry, you’re a good girl, and you deserve the best.”

Sherry smiled. “Meeting you is already more than enough for me.”

Mr. Sniper gave a meaningful smile. “Is that so?”

Sherry nodded firmly. “I understand now. If the girl you like comes back to you, I will

wholeheartedly bless you both. Mr. Sniper, I will always remember your kindness. If

being with her makes you happy, I won’t mind. You have been there for me during the

lowest point in my life, and I am already grateful.”

Mr. Sniper responded, “Nonsense,” and Sherry found herself on the bed with Mr. Sniper

on top of her. He leaned in and gently kissed her lips. “If you say such things againI will

have to punish you.”

Sherry wrapped her arms around his neck and let him kiss her. “What kind of

punishment?”

“Hmm, I can’t bear to punish you in any other way, so

Chapter 1 Fallopian Tube Obstruction “What did I say? It’s your problem that you can’t conceive! Now that the test results are out, let’s see what you have to say!” Sherry Wilson’s grip on the test report wavered. When she saw the words “Blocked Fallopian Tubes” inscribed on it, she felt a chill from head to toe. After four years of marriage to Malcolm Ford, she still couldn’t get pregnant. Her mother-in-law pointed at her, with a furious look, implying that she was about to devour her. People passing by glanced at her as if she were a joke, pointing and gossiping, adding to the chaos. Malcolm was the only son of the Ford family, and she understood her mother-in-law’s desire for a grandson. So she had silently endured it all this time. “Mom,” Sherry said patiently, “let’s go home and talk.” “That’s my home, not yours. Get it straight! I have never recognized you as a member of the Ford family. You’re not worthy!” Her mother-in-law’s words were venomous. Sherry closed her eyes, feeling helpless. “We are legally married, and we have a marriage certificate.” “I’m telling you, Sherry, divorce Malcolm immediately! You won’t get a penny of the Ford family’s wealth!” As more people gathered around her, the sweltering weather and their piercing stares made her feel even more humiliated. Sherry took a deep breath, feeling helpless and hopeless.
