Chapter 55
Mr. Sniper’s eyes were filled with frustration and pain. ‘Once you know the whole truth,
you will understand.”
“When will you tell me the whole truth?”
“After I fmish dealing with my current matters,” he replied.
She had reappeared.
All her inquiries would eventually lead her back here.
It was an endless cycle.
They parted ways without a smile.
Sherry felt this way on her own.
After Sniper left to buy groceries and prepare dinner, Sherry went to the grocery store
as usual.

Her mind was blank as she mechanically pushed the shopping cart.

She felt her logic was still intact as she compared prices and chose goods with ease,
but everything seemed to be happening in slow motion, and it took her several seconds
to react.
Just like now.
The cashier gently reminded her, “Ma’am, the total is $103.7.” “Will you be paying in
cash or by card? We also accept electronic payments, she said.
For a few seconds, Sherry was stunned. She finally snapped back to reality with the
people behind her pressing her. “Oh, okay, okay.”
She took out a bank card from her wallet, paused for a moment, and then put it back.
She paid with cash from her wallet without even asking for change and hurried out of
the supermarket.
Sniper had already given her that bank card.

Sherry tragically realized that she had grown accustomed to his presence in
her life.

She was used to paying with his card, sitting in the passenger seat of his car, and even
growing accustomed to his indulgence and care, gradually becoming more demanding.
She had once assumed that she would just accompany Sniper for a short time before
graciously leaving if his loving woman returned. But Sniper had already caught her in a
lovely net, and his presence followed her wherever she went.
That black hair tie jolted her awake, pulling her out of her reverie.
She returned to the pharmacy with her shopping bags on her way back to the Hilton
Hotel. “Please give me a box of contraceptive pills.”

The drugstore clerk was different from last time, but she still asked if she needed
short–term or long–term medication.
Sherry clenched her teeth. “Short–term, please.”

Long–term tablets had too many adverse effects, and taking them every day risked
being discovered and discarded by Mr. Sniper.
“Here, this one can be taken within 72 hours for emergency contraception.”
Sherry nodded, took the box of tablets, and went to the counter to pay.
“Ma’am/we have a great deal on condoms today. Contraceptive pills can be harmful to
the body; would you like to buy some?”
Sherry pursed her lips and shook her head. “No, thank you; could you please bring me a
glass of water?”
The clerk simply nodded. “Sure, but please wait.”
She took the contraceptive pill with water and threw away the container in a nearby
trash can.
This time, she wasn’t going to bring it back. Taking care of herself from now on was
enough.

Sherry returned to the hotel, cooked her dinner, and went to the hospital to see her
uncle as usual.
When she arrived, she noticed her uncle smoking by the window at the end of the
corridor. There were many cigarette butts on the ground.
‘Sherry, I see you’re here.”
Sherry smiled and walked over. “I brought lunch for both you and Uncle.”
“No need to rush; I have something to tell you.”
Her uncle took her to a secluded spot, his face serious.

Nothing could make her confident cousin look so lost unless something happened to
their uncle.
‘Is Uncle not doing well?”
The doctor said he’s recovering well for now, but the burn area is large, so there may be
scars in the future, and his joint mobility may be affected. That’s not a problem; I’m
willing to take care of him for the rest of my life.”
“I know, Sophia…”
Sherry paused for a moment before deciding not to inform her uncle about Malcolm
and Sophia’s upcoming wedding for now. She paused and rephrased her words. “Now
that Sophia is so capable, it’s only natural for her mother to want to see her.”
Jayden’s expression hardened. “How long are you going to keep hiding things from
me?”
“What do you mean exactly?”
“Sherry, how long have they been together? Why didn’t you tell me about something so
significant?”
“Sophia is now with Malcolm, and they’re getting married soon; her mother is coming
back to attend the wedding!”
Sherry quickly tried to calm down her uncle, who had a quick temper. “Jayden, please
keep your voice down; this is a hospital, and your noise will disturb other patients.”
Noah clenched his teeth and focused on the ground. “The Ford family is too powerful.
How can our small family compare?”
“I never liked Malcolm from the beginning. He’s too arrogant and selfish, thinking the
whole world should revolve around him. But your uncle didn’t listen and agreed to let
you marry him. Now look! Malcolm has set his sights on Sophia. What is this? He won’t
let any of our girls go?!”
Sherry sighed.
Malcolm didn’t always take the initiative to pursue Sophia.
Sophia’s desperate desire to marry into a wealthy family was almost visible on her face.
Jayden was shaking with anger. “Sherry, tell me how they met, you can’t let them
deceive you! Our Sherry is so good; you’ll definitely find someone who loves and
cherishes you.”
Sherry gave a soft smile. She had found the right person, but he had more than just her
in his heart.
