Chapter 56
Sherry pursed her lips. “But what I really want now is to take care of you and Uncle.
Uncle, you’re not young anymore; you should find someone to look after you.
Jayden blushed sheepishly as his niece mentioned his marriage for the first time. “I
don’t need someone to look after me. I can take care of myself. Getting married is too
expensive. Your Uncle still doesn’t know how much money he’ll need for the later stage.
I don’t have the mindset to get married.”
“Oh, by the way, did Malcolm give the money for the two surgeries your Uncle had? How
much in total? I need to earn money quickly and pay him back. I don’t want to owe him
any favors.”
“We didn’t use any of his money.”
“Why not?” Noah exclaimed angrily, “since he’s going to marry Sophia, then your Uncle
is his father–in–law!”
Sherry was speechless. Malcolm’s refusal to donate money was entirely due to Sophia’s
interference. Who would have thought that his own daughter would stand in the way of
her father’s salvation?
But Sophia did just that. She even intentionally said unpleasant things to him in the
hopes that he would die soon and save her from embarrassment.
She could only add, “Not everyone has a conscience.”
“I knew it! These wealthy people are all blood–sucking capitalists! Love means nothing.
to them!* Jayden exclaimed passionately. “Sophia is the same. She knows about your
relationship with Malcolm, so why doesn’t she avoid suspicion? No, I have to go and
talk to Sophia. Our girl shouldn’t jump into the fire pit of the Ford family anymore!”
Sherry quickly grabbed him. “Jayden, don’t leave; maybe Sophia wants this marriage.
too.”
“I’m her uncle! I can’t stand by and watch her go down the wrong path!” Jayden shook
Sherry’s hand and walked out the door.
Sherry hurriedly followed him, chasing after him. “However, Sophia’s mother agreed;
Sophia’s mother should understand Sophia’s intentions the best.”
“Don’t bring up her mother to me! She’s a typical gold digger!” You were young at the
time and didn’t realize what was going on, but who doesn’t know about her mother’s
behavior among the neighbors?
She’s always thinking about marrying a rich man, even when she’s married! Only your
Uncle is an honest person, and he doesn’t want to completely cut ties with her because
he’s afraid of affecting Sophia. What good can she teach Sophia? The three of us have
been frugal to support Sophia’s education abroad. Don’t let her corrupt her!”
Jayden had already reached the entrance of the hospital when he finished speaking.
He waved and got into a taxi. “Don’t worry, Sherry; I’ll control my temper; I’m just going
to reason with Sophia and convince her to drop this idea, you go take care of Noah; I’ll
be back soon.
Sherry couldn’t stop the taxi as it drove away
With her uncle’s anger, how could she be at ease?
He would explode if he found out Sophia was already pregnant with Malcolm’s child,
wouldn’t he?
That’s the Ford clan!
When Sophia acts unreasonably, her uncle will suffer the consequences.
But there’s Uncle upstairs who needs to be taken care of…
Sherry stomped her foot nervously.
There was simply no other option. She clenched her teeth and dialed a phone number.
Mr. Sniper’s voice came through the receiver “Sherry?” “I thought you wouldn’t call me
anymore.”
Sherry had forgotten about their argument in the morning. “Mr. Sniper, can you help
find some caregivers to take care of my uncle as soon as possible, the faster the better?” she said frantically.
Mr. Sniper responded immediately, saying, “OK, I’ll arrange it right away: don’t worry, just
tell me what happened.”
“My uncle found out about Malcolm and Sophia’s marriage and rushed to the Ford
family; I’m afraid he’ll do something impulsive, so I have to go and keep an eye on him!”
Mr. Sniper paused for a moment before asking quietly, “Are you still at the entrance of
the provincial hospital?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Listen, it will take me some time to get there; take a taxi and follow your uncle; I’ll get to
the Fords as soon as possible.”
Sherry was already terrified and agreed to whatever he said.
She hailed a taxi after hanging up the phone and quickly gave the address of the Ford
family villa.
Driver, can you please drive faster? I have an urgent matter.”
0
The driver seemed a little hesitant. “We can’t go fast because the route to the
destination is all main roads that are congested.”
Sherry grew even more anxious as she noticed the traffic jam around her. “Then… can
we take a detour? As long as we get there faster, I don’t mind taking the longer route.”
“OK, I’ll take the expressway directly, but the fare will be twice as much, miss.”
“No worries, no worries; just hurry.”
The driver sped like the wind, brushing up against the speed limit. Nevertheless, it took
half an hour to reach the Ford family villa.
She handed over two banknotes and muttered, “Keep the change, then dashed out of
the car and into the house.
The gate of the Ford family villa was wide open and unlocked.
She pushed through the door and saw Violet sitting on the sofa, watching TV.
“Oh my god, you scared me!” Violet exclaimed, covering her chest. She became furious
after seeing Sherry’s face. “What does it mean to turn around and leave? Can’t you
knock on the door before entering? Can’t you come in only when the owner agrees?”
Sherry ignored her and scanned the entire living area. Violet was alone, and there was
no sound coming from the second floor.
Her uncle had probably not arrived yet.
That’s great. She turned around and walked away, hoping to catch her uncle before he
stormed in.
‘Hey, where are you going? I can call the cops for trespassing, you know? Do you think the Ford family is a park? You can come and go as you please,” Violet said from behind.
“Who are you talking to, Mom?” Malcolm, who had been sleeping in the bedroom, came
downstairs.
He had been drinking and partying with his friends all day, ignoring Sophia’s
displeasure.
Fortunately, he had a great day outside with his friends before returning.
He had barely slept for a few hours when he heard his mother’s harsh voice.
“What kind of taste do you have, Malcolm? You’ve found two women who are not easy
to deal with. Are you only satisfied when you make me angry?” Violet said passionately.
“Are you talking about Sophia? She’s still upstairs, and I’ve already spoken to her and
told her not to come downstairs to avoid irritating you.”
Violet gazed at him intently. “That’s remarkable. Your former spouse is truly bold; she
went so far as to trespass into the house, causing me such a fright that my blood
pressure spiked. Hey, son, where are you going?”
Malcolm had already begun pursuing Sherry before she had even finished her
sentence.
