Chapter 23
Kylie led Joseph away.
Just as they reached the entrance of the mall, a figure suddenly rushed in front of them, blocking their way out.
“Changed your mind about paying for the gown?” Kylie’s eyes narrowed as she looked at the somewhat breathless Sergio.
“I’m not that petty,” Sergio gasped. “Since I’ve paid, I won’t regret it. The Moore family can afford this amount of money.”
Kylie smiled somewhat sarcastically.
Yes.
The Moore family really was rich now, but the reason the Moore family had money was that Kylie had worked hard to earn it for them.
“I tried calling and texting you during this time, but you did not respond.” Sergio ignored Kylie’s sarcasm and spoke frankly.
“Have you forgotten your identity…”
“Even if we’ve broken up, we can still be friends,” Sergio said.
“That’s what you think.” Kylie coldly looked at Sergio. “In my world, you’ve long been disqualified. I cannot be friends with someone whose values and morals are flawed. You’re not worthy.”
“There’s no need to be so harsh…”
“What do you want to say?” Kylie impatiently interrupted.
Sergio took a deep breath, not wanting to argue with Kylie. “I asked the salesgirl just now, and this tailcoat on him costs nearly a million dollars.”
He naturally referred to Joseph.
Joseph frowned, looking at Sergio.
Chapter 23
“So what?” Kylie raised an eyebrow.
“Although you’ve taken over Galaxy Group, and Galaxy Group still has some assets, your wastefulness will deplete them sooner or later. I’ve told you several times, that firefighter is after your money. When you run out of money, he’ll turn his back on you.” Sergio became more agitated as he spoke.
“Did not I say that money can’t buy my willingness?” Kylie disdainfully retorted and then added with a cold tone, “Sergio, put away your false compassion. I will not fall for it.”
Leaving those words behind, Kylie turned and left with Joseph.
“Kylie!” Sergio suddenly grabbed her arm.
Kylie frowned.
Sergio was filled with indescribable anger.
Kylie had been throwing tantrums in front of him during this period, and he had reached his limit.
“Let go of me,” Kylie said coldly.
But Sergio held on tighter. “We had a love affair. I did it for your own good, and you don’t appreciate it… Ouch!”
Suddenly, a scream was heard, and Sergio’s face changed.
Kylie stared in astonishment as Joseph bit down on Sergio’s arm.
Due to the pain, Sergio quickly shook Joseph off.
As he shook him off, a clear bite mark remained on his arm, looking fierce.
“What are you doing?” Sergio angrily scolded Joseph.
“If you dare to bully my mommy again, I’ll immediately lie on the ground and say you hit me. After all, I’m not afraid of losing face as I’m young,”
Chapter 23
Joseph, with a serious face, threatened.
Sergio stared at Joseph fiercely, feeling threatened by this little guy in public.
He felt a surge of frustration that he could not vent.
“Mommy, let’s go.” Joseph tightly held Kylie’s hand, looking like a little adult protecting her.
Kylie felt warm in her heart and gently said, “Okay, let’s go back. You have to rinse your mouth and disinfect it. Don’t bite anything next time. What if it’s unclean?”
Sergio, hearing Kylie’s sarcasm, clenched his fists in frustration. He coldly said to Kylie’s departing figure, “Kylie, when you regret it, don’t come looking for me.”
“Rest assured.” Kylie did not turn her head. “That day won’t come.”
Sergio’s face turned dark.
He wanted to see how long Kylie could keep up this tough act.
In the car…
Kylie sent a message to Ethan because she did not know if he was still in a meeting. [We left the mall. Where should I take Jos?]
[I’ll work overtime tonight. Take care of Jos for me.] Ethan replied instantly.
So…
How busy could he be?
[All night?]
[I’ll come pick him up later.]
[When?]
Chapter 23
There was no reply from the other side.
Kylie pursed her lips, turning to Joseph. “Jos, Ethan will pick you up later. How about we go to my place for now?”
“Okay.” Joseph was excited. “I want to go to Mommy’s house to play.”
Kylie smiled and gently patted Joseph’s little head.
Back home, Kylie let Joseph watch cartoons and began to think about making dinner for him.
Although she had lived abroad and alone for many years, she had not had time to cook for herself. When she was broke, she ate instant noodles. When she had money, she ordered takeout.
After thinking it over, she decided to order takeout.
It was a high–end restaurant takeout, so there was no need to worry about food safety issues.
Kylie sat next to Joseph, carefully choosing dishes.
“Mommy, can I change the TV channel?” Joseph asked.
“You can watch whatever you want.” Kylie pointed to the remote control in front of him.
Joseph picked up the remote control and chose a TV program on his own.
Kylie continued to focus on ordering food. After a long time, when she put down her phone and looked up, she saw that the TV was tuned to the technology channel, currently discussing aerospace.
Kylie could not help but ask, “Jos, can you understand this?”
“Yes,” Joseph said calmly.
Kylie didn’t say anything.
At eight in the evening, they finished dinner together.
Chapter 23
Joseph had good manners, and he was well–behaved at the dinner table.
After dinner, Joseph took the initiative to help Kylie clean up the table. He also invited Kylie to watch TV together, and they chose a variety show.
The two of them huddled on the sofa, creating a warm scene.
“That is Zola.” Joseph pointed to the female celebrity participating in the reality show on the screen, expressing his excitement.
Kylie smiled and asked casually, “Do you like her?”
“I do.”
“Good taste,” Kylie commented.
Zola was indeed good–looking and one of the few in the entertainment industry who was naturally beautiful.
“Daddy likes her too,” Joseph added.
“Really?” Kylie raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah.” Joseph nodded firmly.
They watched TV until 9 p.m.
Joseph yawned.
Seeing that Joseph was sleepy, Kylie sent another message to Ethan, [How much longer until you finish work?]
[Jos will go to sleep before 9:30. Bathe him first, and I’ll pick him up later to go straight to bed.]
Kylie had no choice.
She put down her phone, feeling like she was constantly being directed by Ethan, and he wasn’t the least bit polite.
She took Joseph to bathe.
Chapter 23
“Are you shy?” Kylie teased as she looked at Joseph’s reddened face.
“No woman has ever bathed me before.”
With just this simple sentence, Kylie felt a bit sad.
Joseph had never seen his mother his entire life.
“Kids don’t need to be shy. When you grow up, you will not be able to let ladies bathe you anymore.”
“Yes.” Joseph blushed. He suddenly thought of something and asked, “Mommy, will it grow up when I grow up?”
“What?”
“Here.” Joseph pointed.
Kylie could not help but laugh, “Of course.”
“Can it not grow up?”
“Nope,” Kylie said seriously but then found it funny.
“Does it have to grow as big as Daddy’s?” Joseph gestured it.
Kylie was speechless. How could he describe it like that?
