Chapter 25
For so long, Ethan had never mentioned his family background to her, only telling her that his name was Ethan Hayden.
“Yes,” Ethan admitted and then asked, “When did you find out?”
“Just now,” Kylie replied, “but it’s not difficult to figure out. Your surname is Hayden, and you are a single father. What’s more, you are generous with money. The only thing that doesn’t match is probably…”
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
“You’re much more handsome than the rumors suggest.”
“Thank you for the compliment, Miss Stafford.”
She was just stating facts.
“I never intended to hide it from you,” Ethan said frankly.
In truth, she did not really care.
They had not reached a point where they needed to reveal everything to each other.
She asked now because the 17th coincided with Jason’s 70th birthday, and she wanted to understand why Ethan wanted her to free up time.
“After all, someone has been saying that I’m a firefighter. I was afraid you’d think I was deceiving you, so I planned to formally introduce myself on the 17th.” Ethan’s indifferent tone still carried a hint of irony.
Kylie knew exactly whom he was mocking and said, “He’s blind. Always has been.”
Ethan chuckled slightly, seemingly satisfied with Kylie’s assessment of Sergio.
“It’s late, Miss Stafford, get some rest. Tonight, Jos is in your care.”
Chapter 25
“Mr. Hayden, take care.”
After seeing Ethan off, Kylie returned to bed.
For the first time in so many years, she had another one on her bed.
It felt strange, but not unwelcome at all.
Joseph’s peacefully sleeping face under the dim light inexplicably warmed her heart.
The next day…
Kylie made a simple breakfast.
There was toast, fried eggs, and milk.
Joseph was very appreciative, praising her no matter how the eggs turned out, even if they were a bit burned. He kept saying it was delicious.
Kylie was happy with the praise.
After breakfast, the doorbell rang.
Kylie opened the door and saw Lorenzo standing respectfully and said, “Miss Stafford, Mr. Hayden is busy today and could not come to pick him up. I’m here to take him home.”
“Hasn’t he started kindergarten?” Kylie asked.
“Mr. Joseph just returned to the country and hasn’t gone to kindergarten. But in the second half of the year, he’ll go straight to elementary school. Mr. Hayden has already arranged for him to attend a private elite elementary school.”
She was just making small talk. There was no need for Lorenzo to explain so much.
“These are Mr. Joseph’s clothes.” Lorenzo quickly brought out a suitcase. Kylie frowned and said, “Jos only needs one set of clothes.”
Chapter 25
“Mr. Hayden said to leave more clothes at your place. It will be more convenient for Mr. Joseph when he stays over next time. So inside the
suitcase, there are not only clothes but also toothpaste, a toothbrush, face towels, pajamas, etc.”
Could she refuse?
“If it’s convenient for Miss Stafford, may I come in and organize Mr. Joseph’s things a bit?”
“Thank you,” Kylie said gratefully.
“By the way…” Lorenzo suddenly remembered something and said, “These are the slippers Mr. Hayden asked me to prepare. Shall I put them in the shoe cabinet?”
Lorenzo took out a pair of men’s slippers.
Kylie pursed her lips and agreed.
After placing the shoes, Lorenzo carried the suitcase into Kylie’s home. He then changed Joseph’s clothes and neatly hung his clothes in her closet
He said, “Miss Stafford, I’ll take Mr. Joseph home now. Don’t let me delay your work.”
“Mommy.” Joseph seemed reluctant.
“We’ll see each other again tomorrow,” Kylie comforted, although deep down, she also felt reluctant.
“Really?”
“Really.” The next day was Jason’s 70 birthday.
With a definite answer, Joseph happily left with Lorenzo.
Kylie quickly changed her clothes, applied some makeup, and went to
work.
As soon as she entered the office, Jordyn handed her an invitation letter

and said, “Mr.Jason’s birthday banquet will be held tomorrow night. They are inviting you to attend.”
Kylie took it casually, opened it, and looked at her handwritten name inside. It was beautifully and gracefully written.
Undoubtedly, she thought that it was Ethan’s handiwork.
The office door was suddenly pushed open.
Kylie looked up at Perla.
“Kylie, I’m looking for you.”
Kylie had Jordyn leave, and she casually put away the invitation.
“Even if I went out for something yesterday, do you need to post on the company’s official website news section announcing my absence from work?” Perla, unable to conceal her anger, started questioning.
Seeing the official website information popping up when she came to work, Perla almost exploded with rage.
As the general manager, she was publicly reported as absent without leave. Wasn’t this a joke?
“The company has its rules and regulations, treating everyone equally,” Kylie said calmly.
“Weren’t you also absent yesterday?” Perla questioned.
“This company is mine.” Kylie coldly looked at Perla and said, “That means, the company’s rules and regulations don’t apply to me.”
Perla turned pale with anger, but she had no power to argue.
“If you can’t accept it, you can choose to leave Galaxy Group.” Kylie was indifferent.
Perla thought Kylie was taking advantage of this opportunity to drive her away. She would not fall for it.

Chapter 25
“I was wrong to be absent for no reason yesterday. I will not do it again next time.” Perla had to compromise.
Kylie sneered, “Get out.”
Perla, with gritted teeth, turned and left, a trace of fierceness flashing in her eyes.
She would definitely pay back double the humiliation and oppression she had suffered from Kylie during this period.
When she was back in the office, Perla’s face was still extremely unsightly. The phone rang, and she calmed herself down for a long time before answering, “Salma.”
“Do you know if Kylie will attend Jason’s birthday banquet tomorrow?”
Perla thought for a moment and said, “I haven’t heard that my dad is taking her. My dad always values his reputation.”
The implicit meaning was that bringing Kylie would be embarrassing.
“And the Hayden Group’s banquet is the most prestigious in Beliey. Inferior companies would not make it to the Hayden Group’s invitation list, let alone Galaxy Group,” Perla added.
“That’s good.” Salma breathed a sigh of relief and said, “I was worried that woman would wear that dress she wore yesterday.”
Salma would not admit it, but if Kylie showed up in that dress, Kylie would definitely steal her thunder.
“Rest assured. Kylie has no qualifications to go. That dress she wore yesterday was just self–appreciation. You don’t need to care about her.”
“Alright.” Salma’s mood improved. “See you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow.”
Perla hung up the phone, her mouth curling into a wicked smile.
Chapter 25
In a day, Kylie would only envy her.
On the 17th…
Starting from the morning, news about Jason’s 70th birthday celebration dominated the hot searches on Beliey’s news.
In the evening…
The most luxurious private club in Beliey was illuminated by dazzling lights, making it seem like half the sky was lit up.
Countless luxury cars formed a long line in front of the club.
As each person stepped out of the luxury cars, reporters eagerly rushed to interview and photograph them, creating a spectacle more dazzling and glamorous than the entertainment industry’s annual award ceremonies.
